Tamarai — Restaurant in Kampala

A friend highly recommended this restaurant for a small friends reunion so we decided to have it there. The staff were so warm and welcoming as they showed us to our table. I was impressed by the lady (dint get her name) who showed us around so we could get the table we preferred. It is a quiet and Lovely restaurant. Beautiful ambiance lots of green, cool and Very cozy. It’s an intimate restaurant not overly crowded with tables and Would be a Nice place for a romantic date, casual meals, hanging out with friends and small parties like birthday parties or baby showers. Plus you can bring in your own cake. There is also wheel chair access to the restaurant.

We ordered several dishes on the menu and they were all amazing. The food presentation was awesome and the food itself was very delicious. Personally I heard the pepper steak and it was perfectly made. Haven’t had steak this nice anywhere around. I really enjoyed every bite of it. The sauce was great too. One My friends had friends had grilled duck and it was well done too. Not dry at all and the other had Mongolian beef which was also awesome. We basically loved all the food we had there. I too highly recommend this place.

The food prices were average too. Not so expensive and not cheap but definitely worth it. You would fall in love with this place.

However, The car Parking space is quite small. Also, one of my friends asked for a lychee cooler (a juice) which appeared on the menu and the waiter said they couldn’t make it...

I went to this place on a Thursday evening; the cocktails were good and they were quite cheap because of the two for one promo. The food was alright and was served fast considering we had a group of about twenty. The ambience is cozy with a woody jungle feel. The music is good. There is a bar area separated from the restaurant area for those who are into drinks and not the food. On the downside, the parking is quite inadequate especially if you are not comfortable with parking on the sidewalk outside. The sidewalk parking is not favorable for those without a four wheel drive. The waiting staff also seemed tired 😓 and were not very helpful in giving recommendations. The food pricing is slightly on the higher side. I had the 8 dunked barbecue chicken wings at 24000 UGX with a two for one strawberry daiquiri at 25000 UGX. Food is delicious. But our last experience when was very disappointing, we ordered chicken pad Thai and were served vegetable, which wasnt a big deal. But when the manager came he rummaged through our meal and said that the chixken was there just too small to see. But there was tofu and all the other veggies. We were still chargee the extra for chicken. Also, a dish we were sharing, was broufht with only one set of chopsticks. And the food was cold by the time we were able to eat. Normally I love this place, thus 4 stars. But a disappointing experience like this really taints going back.
