Read moreAroos Damascus is a nostalgic place for me and my husband, having grown up in Dubai in the 90's. This was always the restaurant of choice when heading out for Syrian/Lebanese cuisine. The restaurant is always packed, especially on the weekends. Seating is available both indoors and out, which is great these days, considering the weather is so pleasant outdoors. The staff is friendly and the service is prompt. We visited on a very busy Friday evening, and were amazed at how we were done with dinner in an hour.
Parking might be a challenge as limited parking is available around the area. They do offer valet parking at AED10 per hour.
We ordered the following:
*Chicken Shawarma - nothing extra ordinary, just right. We like ours with extra Tahina sauce, practically dripping and I suggest you try it next time.
*Hot Potatoes - they make the best hot potatoes in town. Basically baked potato wedges tossed in spices and olive oil.
*Fattah with Meat Shawarma - Served in a clay pot, it is a gooey mix of stale pita bread, yogurt, chick peas and topped with shawarma meat. Not the best I've had, but good for these winter evenings.
*Arayes - these were grilled and crisp to perfection. The minced meat filling was good. They tasted delicious with hummus and garlic sauce.
*Mix Grill - consisted of pieces of chicken, meat, kababs and wings - Depending on the number of people on your table, you can customize the platter size. The meat was well marinated and juicy. The kababs were soft and flavorful.
They serve unlimited refills of hot out-of-the-oven arabic bread. Hummus and other accompaniments have to be ordered on the side and are not served with the grills. The prices are fairly reasonable, the servings are large and the food is great.
Highly recommend that you try...
Read moreAroos Damascus is a haven for vegetarian Middle eastern dishes as well, serving up an extraordinary array of Middle eastern dishes that never fail to impress with their authentic flavors and impeccable quality. The hummus is a masterpiece—silky, tahini-rich, and perfectly balanced with a touch of lemon, paired with warm, fluffy pita bread straight from the oven. The fattoush salad is a vibrant medley of crisp cucumbers, tomatoes, and crunchy toasted pita, all tossed in a zesty sumac and pomegranate molasses dressing that’s both refreshing and bold. The tabbouleh bursts with fresh parsley and bright lemony notes, while the falafel pakodas are golden, crispy, and tender, elevated by the fiery kick of their signature garlic and chili paste. The aloo -batata hara, a warmly spiced potato dish, adds a comforting, savory depth that rounds out the meal beautifully.
The vegetarian offerings shine further with the zaatar pie and manakeesh, both baked to perfection with a fragrant, herbaceous zaatar blend that complements the soft, chewy dough. The baba ganoush is smoky and velvety, making it an ideal dip or sidekick to any dish.
For dessert, the cream kunafa is an absolute standout—its crispy, golden pastry encasing a luscious, creamy filling that melts in your mouth, perfectly balanced in sweetness. The Umm Ali is equally unforgettable, with its warm, custardy layers of pastry, nuts, and raisins creating a comforting, indulgent treat that everyone must try. Every dish is crafted with care, delivering consistent quality and generous portions. Paired with warm service and a welcoming atmosphere, Aroos Damascus is a must-visit for anyone craving exceptional vegetarian Middle...
