The waitress, welcomed us and told us to scan the qr code for the menu. So far so good…. Only now the problems start/ problems that will persist throughout our dinner. As soon as we ordered, we started smelling smoke, and this was especially concerning considering we were with a toddler. As we looked around, all we could see was huge bright tv screens, and people drinking multiple pitchers of alcohol. When we asked our waiter if this place is kid friendly, she replied saying yes it is. Kid friendly? Yes so a place where people are smoking, drinking alcohol all around, and watching tv at double the volume so even a conversation is a task, is kid friendly - at least according to the staff. The restaurant was all rusty and Cozy looking. There is also a pool and beach area which was all overcrowded, and too loud, there was even a line. The main restaurant is two floors, with the top floor being closed, and a outdoor space being tented and installed with ACs to make the summer bearable. That hall was spacious and airy, but overcrowded to say the least. There were also some games, like air hockey. There are not many options in the menu, forget any vegetarian options, the prices are also expensive and portions are small. But by this time, you would have forgotten that we had even placed an order, right? Well exactly! It took ages and ages to prepare a single plate of fish and chips, half grilled chicken, and fried wings. Three ordinary dishes, which should have take 20-25 minutes took over an hour to come. No one even told us that it would take long while ordering or even after we ordered. We just patiently waited and waited and waited. At last our hungry toddler had it enough - he was determined to leave this place and so were we. So we asked the servers how much more time it would take and if it would take a lot more time then we wanted to leave, as our toddler was getting cranky by the second. They replied by saying it would take around 15 more minutes. At first we were shocked, after waiting for over an hour, the last one wants is to wait another quarter of an hour. Though that is exactly what we did, and then since the smoke of the cigarettes became unbearable, we shifted tables. When the food came so did a bunch of apologies, and a forgotten salad. Only when did we remind them, did they bring on the salad. The fries with the grilled chicken were frozen, and not crispy or good. The chips with the fish were freshly made. The fish was crispy, and hot and tasty. So was the vinegar, the green sauce ( forgot what it is called), tarter sauce and the mushy peas. The grilled chicken with the bbq sauce was also good. At least as good as grilled chicken can get. The forgotten salad, which came after asking the staff twice, was also good. The wings were crispy, and the sauce that came with it was spicy. Though the sauce seemed bottled, could have been better, and also ideally should have been poured on top of the chicken wings. The overall experience was not, at least for the hefty price we paid, to dine at a world famous restaurant, one of the best in Dubai, with numerous accolades, and 13000 google reviews, at a fiver star deluxe establishment from Marriott bonvoy, one of the best and oldest resorts in Dubai, the experience should have been better and it was at least for the last 20 years we have been going to it until today. Not worth really specially...
Read moreI just want to express how extremely disappointed I was with my experience at this place on Monday, 25/08/2025. I had high expectations, especially after seeing how many times the venue had been awarded. However, it’s far from being the best.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by a hostess who only informed us that towels came at an additional cost. She barely mentioned anything about the packages or promotions available.
We then made our way to the pool and found a spot ourselves, as no staff welcomed or assisted us. After about 15 minutes, we finally managed to get the attention of a waiter. We placed an order for drinks and towels (once again being reminded that towels were chargeable).
After another 15 minutes, nothing had been served. We called over another waiter to confirm our previous order, and again, the cost of towels was brought up. Ten more minutes passed, and the towels still hadn’t arrived. At that point, we complained and demanded the towels immediately. The waitress again mentioned the charge but finally brought them.
When our drinks were eventually served, the bill was presented right away. This seemed unnecessary, especially as there were only three occupied tables at the time—it’s not like we were going to run off. In most other places in Dubai, bills are not presented so abruptly so we asked to keep the tab open and offered a credit card, which was accepted without the credit card.
We placed a second order, and again, the bill was brought before we even had a chance to taste the food. We asked to speak with the manager, but two other waiters came instead, stating this was their policy. Eventually, we did speak with someone who seemed to be the manager, but he simply justified their approach by saying that they’d had customers leave without paying before. (something I can actually believe, considering the poor service and lack of guest attention.)
Overall, the experience was terrible. The food and drinks were average at best. We stayed only three hours before deciding to leave, as there was no point in staying any longer. Even the other guests seemed odd, which made the environment even less enjoyable.
Honestly, I don’t understand how this place has received any awards. I’ve been to many places in Dubai, and this is one I would strongly...

While most of the staff were incredibly kind and accommodating, there were a few moments where the VIP deck team could have been more welcoming to some of my mommies. But kindness always finds a way—I personally stepped in to request a smoother experience, and the situation was quickly resolved.
