Sui Mui absolutely delivered — easily the best meal I’ve had during my stay in Dubai.
From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The decor is bold, vibrant, and full of character, with a beautifully ambient vibe throughout. It’s a little on the dark side for my taste — I like to clearly see what I’m eating — but that’s subjective, and the lighting adds to the relaxed, almost intimate energy of the space. The background music was so well-curated I actually found myself Shazam’ing a few tracks — that doesn’t happen often.
One of the boldest and most brilliant design choices? Having the chefs cooking right in the middle of the restaurant. It adds a sense of theatre and trust — you see the food being made, fresh and right there in front of you. No pretence, just confidence.
As for the meal itself — exceptional.
I started with Vietnamese chicken spring rolls, prawn crackers (I had a second portion btw), and a sweet chilli sauce I may be in love with. All paired with a perfectly chilled Santa Carolina Sauvignon Blanc. The flavours were fresh, balanced, and beautifully elevated.
Then came the Thai green curry, which genuinely outclassed any I’ve had in Thailand. Rich, aromatic, comforting — I mopped up every last bit of the sauce.
Dessert was a pandan crêpe with coconut ice cream. The crêpe itself was a little chewier than I expected (I’d anticipated something softer and fluffier), but rolling it up and slicing it with the coconut ice cream worked beautifully. A lovely end to the meal.
To finish, they went out of their way to source egg white just for my whisky sour. That kind of attention to detail? Outstanding and memorable.
A special mention for Juti, who made the experience even warmer with her friendliness and charm. When you get employees like Juti, hang on to them for all they’re worth.
And here’s something that really sets Sui Mui apart — very few dishes there have a surcharge for All Inclusive guests. That’s rare here at the Westin and incredibly welcome. You don’t feel like you’re being taken for a ride — just taken care of.
Sui Mui is confident, creative, and customer-focused. If you’re in the area — or even if you’re not — it’s absolutely worth a visit. You’ll leave full, happy, and wanting to come back again - which I will be, the night before I leave the Westin.
Edit: Came back again two days later for my final dinner in Dubai. Just as brilliant. Fresh food, perfect service, and Juti runs the place like a pro. Couldn’t have picked a better spot to...
Read moreWe are a family of vegetarians & vegans (I am also gluten-free) and came here for dinner. On this particular night, the restaurant was offering a buffet style service, however, there were no suitable dishes at the buffet.
Due to our dietary requirements, the head waiter allowed us to order from the vegan menu. We ended up waiting almost two hours for starters, and when we asked what the reason for the delay was, the waiter said “the chef is being extra careful, due to your dietary requirements”… oh how ironic this would turn out to be.
I had ordered the Tom Kha (vegan coconut soup) but was shocked and angered to have been served the Tom Kha Gai (chicken & seafood soup). Upon realising this, I asked to speak to the waiter, who offered no explanation as to how or why this had happened, especially as the chef was “being extra careful”!! I then asked to speak to the manager, but instead the head waiter came to the table and explained that the previous waiter had entered my order incorrectly on the computer. The head waiter then said she had noticed the order for chicken had been placed, and even knowing our dietary requirements, she did not think to come and double check.
Eventually I was able to speak with the manager, who was reluctant to come over, and was very unhelpful, saying that she was sorry and that there had been a mistake, but there was nothing she could do, other than to take care of our drinks (our meal was covered by half board at the hotel). I suggested that the name of the vegan dish be changed so that this doesn’t happen in the future.
Shambolic. Careless. Disappointed. Will never...
