CHOIX Patisserie and Restaurant par Pierre Gagnaire — Restaurant in Dubai

I had anticipated the elegance of a Michelin-starred experience at Pierre TT, but instead found myself at Choix, a restaurant apparently serving as an alternative for breakfast and lunch.

Walking into a restaurant to find empty tables littered with dirty plates is hardly an inviting sight. I had to request table cleanup before being seated.

Upon inquiry about their signature dishes, the waitress suggested the "Ratatouille," yet the menu listed a completely different name for the dish. Nevertheless, I opted for their supposed signature meal along with a hot beverage to start, opting for an Earl Grey tea in this instance.

The serving of two pieces of bread, dried out and lacking a bread knife on the side, left much to be desired. I hoped the main course would fare better.

However, the way my tea was served was disappointing – placed on the far end of the table. This can be observed in one of the accompanying photos, and the experience only seemed to worsen from there.

The tea was exceedingly diluted and lacked flavor, making it challenging to discern whether it was green tea or Earl Grey. Upon requesting a stronger brew, they took the pot, leaving me to ponder whether to wait for my now-cold meal or risk a cold cup of tea afterward.

Subsequently, they served my tea again after a 10-minute delay. The timing left me torn between enjoying my tea while my meal went cold or risking a tepid cup later on.

Desiring a glass of wine to accompany my meal, I requested white wine, expecting a lighter counterpart to my dish. However, much like the substitution of my chosen meal, they brought a different variety without regard to my preference.

With my meal, wine, and belated tea in hand, I settled in. Despite the meal being enjoyable, albeit not of my choosing, the service undoubtedly needs refinement. In a city like Dubai, where rents are steep and luxury is paramount, employing well-trained staff should be a priority.

The white wine provided was overly dry and potent compared to my meal. I would have preferred a smoother, lighter option to complement the dish.

My dining experience concluded with a lukewarm cup of tea, adding to the overall disappointment with this restaurant.

P.S.: I couldn't help but notice that every table had a tissue box except mine. Despite my attempts to procure one from neighboring tables, none of the staff bothered to provide me with one. Choix, consider investing more in your waitstaff to enhance your...

So disrespectful!

We came around 17:27 pm and there were plenty of available tables.

We chose one table & the waiter said no you can’t use this table it is reserved for the whole day! Another waiter said that its booked for 19:00 pm !! He said i can call my manager to talk to you and he never called him!

I wonder how can a café at a 5 star hotel group that we have the highest membership at do this to us! Reservations at all decent places are held for specific time not for the whole day or hours before the guest arrival time ! It was clear that it was not reserved as each one of the waiters said a different story!

I clearly told the waiter after paying our bill that I will post a review and he said you are welcome to share your feelings our management will check that out !!

We left at 18:20 & the table was still with no guests! This is not respectful and totally unacceptable and its not expected...

I had arranged my baby shower -Afternoon tea gathering at Choix, everything was just PERFECT!! The service was really 5 stars, the staff is sooo cooperative and VERY KIND, and they helped to spread the positive vibes The food was EXCELLENT! Nice choices and variety of bites in the afternoon tea stand, and a bonus that they can accommodate different dietary requirements and allergens carefully! Finally, the atmosphere and location is awesome, very relaxing, open shining space, with french windows and overlooking the creek and festival city, excellent views and very suitable for photo-shooting even ☺️ This is place is highly recommended if you just wanted to have a relaxing afternoon with drinks overlooking the creek, or you want to host a special small gathering!
