Govindas is a place serving pure vegetarian food I.e satvik food made without onion and garlic. The ambiance is very warm and welcoming with hymns(krishna kirtan) chanting as the background music that makes the food dining all the more soothing and relaxing. It certainly has a calming effect on you before you get down to eating. The interiors are quiet unique with carved pots used as lamp shades. There is large artificial tree in the middle and walls are adorned with beautiful painting of lord krishna that goes pretty well with the theme and adds up to the place charm.
They have an extensive menu ranging from juices to mocktails to an amazing array of Indian delicacies along with Indo Chinese menu. After we were seated we were handed paper bags to safely place the mask in it. Kids were provided with a small toy and sheets for coloring and colors to keep them engrossed. We started off with some chaats pani poori and Raj Kachori. Pani served in narrow tube glasses with poori placed on top of it, great presentation with tasty burst of flavours in the mouth. Raj Kachori was just okay, addition of more chutney would definitely elevate the dish.
They have introduced soya dishes on the menu. We tried Hariyali soya chaap and Chilli soya. Chilli soya was the star of the evening for me, a perfect blend of sauces with distinctly soft soya chaap strips and was delicious to taste. Hariyali chaap was certainly good to taste but had a little overpowering marination. But nevertheless the quality of soya chaap was immaculate. Hara Bhara kebab for the lil ones were perfect crispy and healthy treat.
For mains we had dal tadka, paneer brocolli, mirchi ka Salan, sarso ka saag, Shazam savera kofta curry along with soya Biryani and assortment is breads with maki ki roti. Being a satvik place, all the gravies were cooked to perfection with no overpowering or underwhelming use of masalas and had a distinct flavour to it. I am sure you won't miss the onion n garlic flavours in the curries. Kudos to the team for the uniqueness of gravies and tastewise it was supremely delectable. Special mention of humble dal tadka with such homely flavours with prominent flavours of ghee, hung and jeers. Just loved it.
For desserts we had the Gajar ka halwa, Gulab Jamun and rabdi. Trust me on this, I haven't tasted such delicious desserts ever in a long time. All were supremely delicious and will leave you wanting for more. They have an outdoor kiosk named 'Tru Frut' of natural fruit flavoured ice creams which is hundred percent natural with varied flavours like chickoo, litchi, anjeer, sitaphal etc. we tasted anjeer one which was rich, creamy and certainly delicious.
The staff was friendly, attentive and very courteous. This place offers tradional flavors with quality ingredients executed perfected well. The food touches all the right notes of your discerning palates, the spiritual environment and ambiance acts as a catalyst and ensures a perfect treat to your tastebuds and calmness to your mindsets. Most definitely recommended for a perfect soulful dining...
