Beautiful atmosphere and views. Staff friendly. They let you be, though at times it meant we had to work a bit hard to get their attention. However, the food and drink was terrible. We tried their all you can eat sushi special - expensive but we thought it might be worth it. It was not worth even half of what we paid. If edamame was the highlight of our food, sushi sucks. Badly. It tasted bland and as though it was prepared at some lab factory and then sat a while before served. Chewy, no difference in taste from one roll to the next. Sushi pieces, salmon, was better. Terrible sauce. No spiciness, no crunch. Ewww. Felt like gagging most of the time. What the heck is that? Makes me wonder if it’s a UAE thing? To copy something without truly learning the craft. (We found Syrian looking sweets at a grocery store and they tasted nothing like the real thing - were made in the UAE.) Not sure if we had ordered something not all inclusive if they had the ability or the right chef to create better sushi, but we were just really disappointed at the quality and fake tasting sushi. Also the drinks we paid extra for, were flat. Sake each is 60-90AED and was not served from a new bottle, likely something bought in bulk, cheap and evaporated long ago. The only thing I really enjoyed was the water options, they were actually brought in sealed bottles. I never have soda but after the horrible sushi and cheap tasting sake, I had to still wash it down with something and forget the painfully expensive mistake, so I asked for soda. Normally I would never have soda in restaurants, let alone along with sushi dinner. Too bad, the place has so much going for it, but it’s a restaurant and you just can’t ignore the quality of food (and drink) being served. For a one of a kind 5-star sushi experience in Dubai, I would recommend SushiYaki near Souk Madinat, Jumeirah Waterfront - lux set up and seating indoor and outdoor. Not far from the water, beautiful walks near incredible hotels - where Art Dubai...
Read moreDubai restaurant week a fantastic opportunity to experience some of the fabulous restaurants around the city. We always try 1-2 restaurants during this time. Oanjo located on the top floor of the Sheraton hotel gave us incredible views of the city. The restaurant was the perfect size offering both intimate and family dinning seating. The decor was very interesting and well thought out. We had excellent service throughout the evening and they could not do enough for us. Also live music which added to the evening atmosphere. UNFORTUNATELY The food Japanese and Portuguese fusion. Which was meant to be the highlight of the evening was such a disappointment every course was average at best. It all looked fantastic and instagramable many people around us were taken pictures of the food. None of the food stood out. Fast food chain standard food tasted okay not unpleasant but also not special in any way But for me the worst thing was a simple dish of smash potatoes which turned out to be simple potatoes wedges available in any take away. Thanks to restaurants week we able avoid paying full price and won’t be going back which a shame as the staff and...

Overall, Oanjo restaurant is a must-visit spot for anyone who appreciates fine dining and...
