Read moreSaturday evening, January 20 around 9PMish, we decided to have a dim sum dinner in Din Tai Fung MOE. It’s not our first time, we’ve been here so many times so we know the drill. Take a buzzer with no. wait 15-20 mins and you get seated. We decided to walk around but after 5 mins our buzzer started to beep, so we came back. The reservation area was bustling with people, and it was unclear whether they were waiting to be seated or waiting to receive a buzzer from the lady manning the area, identified as Daisy by her nameplate.
After a short wait, my husband handed our buzzer to Daisy. We observed that two tables for four were ready, with one being prepared for customers and the other already cleaned. Additionally, there was a table for two situated to the right of the reservation desk. A staff member took our buzzer and directed us to the table for two. Concerned about its proximity to the entrance and the heavy foot traffic, I inquired if it was possible to wait for a different table. When the staff relayed my request to Daisy, she responded rudely, stating that we would have to wait. Despite this, I assured her it was fine, and she provided us with a new number.
As we waited, I noticed that the previously being cleaned table for four was now available. Another staff member, TJ, noticed us standing and inquired if we were waiting to be seated. I confirmed, and as I began explaining to TJ that there was an available table for two in front of us and that I was willing to wait for another table, Daisy rudely interrupted our conversation with TJ and insisted that we did not want the table, so we would have to wait. Despite TJ's attempt to inform her of the available table, she responded with a rude glare. TJ then escorted us to our new table which was the table for four.
Throughout our meal, as we placed our orders, waited for our food, and dined, Daisy passed by to seat other customers, casting irritated glances in our direction each time. I am sharing this review because I was taken aback by her behavior. I even suggested waiting for another table, yet she reacted rudely. I simply wished to enjoy my meal without feeling uncomfortable due to the constant foot traffic near our first offered table. I believe she could benefit from training on how to courteously interact with customers, especially when customers are being polite themselves. It is unnecessary for her to exhibit such attitude simply because a customer declined a table.
Once again, the food was excellent, particularly the Xiao Long Bao, Crispy Beef, and the milk tea. However, the experience was ruined by the...
