It’s an Indian cuisine day and so we opted for a luxury experience tonight as it was our son’s birthday too. We we went to souq al bahar and chose Patiala Restaurant. It’s a beautifully designed restaurant with gleaming decor. Their staff is very hospitable and each one of them greeted with a warm smile. Since we are always with two demanding toddlers so Dinning out somewhere becomes an adventure for us. Sushil is the guy who had been taking a great care of all our needs and our kids too. Moving towards their menu they have an elaborated menu ranging from appetizers to starters and extensive range of almost all kind of drinks to the main course and at the end a yummy dessert treat too. We had some of the chef’s specialties and I must say their chef Mr. Bharat Singh did justice to what he claimed in the beginning. We started with soups; they had daal dhaniya shorba, murgh malai shorba and mushroom cream soup. My personal favorite was murgh malai shorba n mushroom soup. The serving of soups was in a very unique way. It was much like soup shots which we loved. Then we’re the starters in that we had kamal jad ki shammi (a very unique type of kebab), South Indian style prawn (very tasty), afghani murgh tikka (very tender and scrumptious), Amristsari Seekh kebab (different but not bad) and malai kebab (extremely tender and juicy). That was quite a fiesta. We had some amazingly refreshing drinks too which included candy paan mojito (gives the taste of paan in it and very deliciously refreshing), Rain forest (I found the taste more like of mixed berries inside so it was rich in taste and really good), peanut chocolate colada (it was a virgin colada but I found it a bit heavy) and virgin mojito (fresh lime and helped in digestion). Moving towards main course we ordered lamb biryani ( the best biryani I had till date from any Indian restaurant and I just loved their presentation for that), Nalli Nihari (we were expecting much from this but it was okay), chicken tikka masala (good in taste), dal makhni (husband’s favorite) and Patiala Shahi meat (drenched in gravy it too was rich in cultural taste) served with softest assorted breads. At the end we had delish gulab jamun and Pistachio kulfi. They had my heart. It was all in all a great experience with them and I must say it’s highly recommended from our side. Do give it go and let us know how did you find them. You’d love the ambiance, staff, food and value of your money won’t be...
Read morePatiala is an Indian restaurant located in the heart of Souk Al Bahar. The staff is very friendly & ready to serve the customer. Restaurant manager Mr.Santosh have great experience about the product and high quality of service. Chef Bharat & his team are excellent to prepare the authentic Indian food & keeping excellent presentation. Restaurant is very clean with Indian decorations. I like the wall decorated in Jharokha ( windows) style..the only drawback is that you can’t see the beauty of Souk al Bahar from this place.
Coming to the food ...our menu was set by Chef Bharat... we were served Chilli Nadru Chaat - (Lotus stem is known as Nadru in Kashmir) - it was delicious ...we can’t leave a single bite of it 😀
Then we were served their yummilicious range of tikkas ... Dhaniya Murg Tikka Nawabi Murg Tikka Galouti Kebab & Zaitooni Paneer Tikka That’s what I loved most ... all four of them were delicious ... perfectly done with perfect balance of spices.
For the main course we were served Patiala Shahi Meat Masala Butter Chicken Dal Makhni & Chicken Biryani Served with assorted fresh naans ( Indian bread) .. Everything was having authentic Indian flavors.
They also showcased some of their best drinks which I liked a lot. Snow Berries Basil Breeze Rain Forest Tangy Twist Mango Lassi Chaas What should I say ... they were so refreshing .... the chaas was not up to the mark though, but other than that all were good.
Then comes the best part of the meal.... Desserts ... they served us .. Rose Petal Halwa Mango Lassi Ice-cream Bhapa Doi My personal favorite was the rose petal halwa ..
Really great & Amazing...
Read moreRestaurant is in one of the best places Souk Al Bahar The ambiance is very dark and gloomy not very pleasant and pleasing. Seating is ample but furniture rocks. I personally did not have a good experience. I went for a fine dine which probably is one of the most expensive ones serving Indian cuisine but to my dismay it all went in vain. For starters we encountered cockroach which when we mentioned the staff suggested us to change the table. Still ignoring it we went ahead with ordering the food. Going by the staffs suggestion we opted for bestsellers Butter Chicken and Patialashahi Meat and in breads we ordered pudhina parantha. The presentation was poor just in brass utensils they served without garnish. Zero points for presentation. Butter chicken was good in taste not extraordinary but good. Mutton was pathetic we left it as it is, was uncooked and even the masala was messed up flavor less. Breads were good and they have this style of serving two parantha in one portion. The salad they served was like served in roadside cafeterias. Their cutlery was clean thankfully. We also ordered for their best mocktail which is Banarasi Paan Candy Mojito It was really bad , sorry but it was really disappointing. After mentioning all this to the staff serving he was like you can mention at tripadvisor whatever you wish to , I found it rude but then may be he realised and was kind enough to serve us with gulab jamun complimentary. But hard luck the gulab jamun was also uncooked. It tasted like granules of the flour. So overall it was a pathetic expensive experience. Not...
