We visited for Easter lunch, expecting a relaxed, festive afternoon. Instead, we got average food, inattentive service and an atmosphere so loud it was genuinely frustrating. Everyone couldn’t leave fast enough!
The food was nothing special — average in quality and overpriced for what it was. Service was disengaged from the start: missing plates, missing cutlery, all just minutes after our starters arrived.
My pizza was mistakenly served to someone else at the table — understandable, since we’d ordered the same thing. What wasn’t understandable was the lack of follow-up. I was clearly the only one without a main, yet no one noticed or checked in. When I finally pointed it out, it took another 15 minutes to reorder. By then, everyone else was finishing dessert. I wasn’t about to sit there eating alone while others waited awkwardly, so I asked for it to be boxed.
But what really ruined the afternoon was the pounding music. The DJ was blasting club-level volume — during lunch. It wasn’t just loud — it was overbearing, to the point of exasperation. We couldn’t hear each other speak and the volume only got louder as the afternoon wore on. Maybe it was meant for the veranda crowd, but inside it created a jarring clash of vibes. The place can’t seem to decide whether it wants to be a beach restaurant or a beach club — and ends up doing neither well.
Won’t be returning or recommending anytime soon. A special occasion turned frustrating for all the...
Read moreThis was the second visit to the Beach Club, and as with the first visit, one of the main issues was the service and lack of attention at the table. It’s very difficult to get the attention of the team. The banquette seatings are suffering from many food, stains, and really need cleaning on the floor. Underneath the table again is very stained and dirty. It’s a pity because the venue is a very attractive one. I ordered the crab salad and maybe my misinterpretation of the dish is at fault as I was hoping for mud crab nicely flaked on a bed of avocado, but this was more like a crab pate. I can’t say this was wrong, just didn’t meet my expectations but would’ve been nicer to have had more fresh crab flavor and texture. The dish was supposed to be served with lavash bread. However, this didn’t arrive, and when the server was reminded, pita bread came instead it’s hard to understand why that would happen, We ordered fish tacos and buffalo wings which were good but for dessert what was featured on the menu is profiteroles with ice cream came as a rather large choux bun that was soggy and heavy, and really wasn’t a profiterole accompanied by a sweet chocolate sauce and average quality ice cream. It would’ve been nice if the pastry had a been crisp and light and the sauce more bitter-to offset the sweetness. As mentioned before, it’s a really good venue, let down by attention at the table and the interpretation of the menu by...
Read moreOver the past few years living on the Palm, Byron 'used' to be our favourite family spot. It delivered the perfect relaxed family atmosphere, great service and lovely food. Unfortunately, we have watched it decline at an astonishing pace.
The focus is clearly now on maximising profit, at the expense of everything that made it so endearing to all who used to frequent it. Minimum spends are levied at every opportunity now, with even old, filthy sunbeds being charged at 200dhs each.
The service is unbearably slow, with staff often inattentive and repeatedly forgetting the most basic of requests. The food quality remains but the speed of service again is so slow that you always end up with very hungry, irritable children.
Finally, the parking arrangements are poor and it seems that the restaurant has now purposefully limited the free parking available to patrons in a bid to increase usage of their Valet service- which is of course available to your at an extra charge, even when you have already paid a princely sum for F&B at the venue.
It's such a shame as this was a spot we visited every weekend without fail and where we would take all of our guests visiting from overseas. Unfortunately, this will no longer be the case. I do hope changes are made in the future to return the focus back to a fun, family...
