Surprised by the Double Standards at Your Venue. A Feedback Worth Reading!!
I had always held your venue in high regard especially given its prime location on the Palm and its reputation for luxury, exclusivity, and international hospitality. Unfortunately, my recent visit on Wednesday night around 11:15 PM (16july) has left me genuinely questioning whether your door policies are aligned with the values you claim to represent.
Prior to arriving, I called ahead and was clearly informed that ladies enjoy free entry all night. Confident in that understanding, I arrived with two of my friends all of us dressed appropriately, in good spirits, and ready to enjoy our evening.
What followed, however, was not just surprising it was confusing, disappointing, and frankly difficult to explain.
Upon arriving, we were met by two door staff both Eastern European, one of whom appeared to be in a supervisory position. Instead of welcoming us, they began whispering and exchanging glances right in front of us, without so much as an introduction or explanation. The tone was dismissive, the energy unwelcoming, and their eventual message that we would need to commit to a minimum spend of 500 AED per person was delivered with attitude and zero hospitality.
Oddly enough, just moments later, a group of five blonde women who made no mention of a reservation were welcomed in with smiles and no mention of any minimum spend. That contrast wasn’t subtle. And unfortunately, it didn’t feel like coincidence.
I’d like to believe this was a misunderstanding, or perhaps a case of poor training or miscommunication. But the uncomfortable truth is: when people of colour are held to a completely different standard at the entrance despite calling ahead, dressing well, and complying with expectations it sends a clear and deeply problematic message.
We weren’t turned off by the 500 AED spend we’re out to enjoy ourselves and have no issue supporting premium venues. What was unacceptable was the attitude, the lack of professionalism, and what felt like a very targeted attempt to deny us entry under a fabricated policy while others walked in freely.
This isn’t about just one night. It’s about how a venue of your standard chooses to train, supervise, and hold staff accountable. I’d strongly urge management to review the behavior and consistency of the team working your entrance on Wednesday around 11:15 PM.
Because if this kind of selective hospitality is what’s becoming your norm, it reflects more than just poor service it reflects deep-rooted bias, whether...

Read moreI’m writing to share my disappointment following our recent visit to the Penthouse. As a returning guest, I’ve always appreciated the atmosphere and service at your venue, having visited several times with my boyfriend and the same group of friends. However, last night’s experience was deeply disappointing, especially given your 5-star standard. Prior to arriving, we called to confirm the policy and were told that entry for ladies was free, with food and drinks chargeable which was perfectly fine for us. This night was special, as we were celebrating a friend’s bachelor party and were genuinely excited. However, the welcome we received was far from what we expected. Upon arriving around 11:15 PM, we were met at the entrance by two ladies. It was immediately clear from their demeanor and whispered conversation that we were being judged before even being properly greeted. We were then told we had to pay AED 500 per person for entry which, again, isn’t about the amount, but the manner in which it was communicated. The tone and attitude felt dismissive, unwelcoming, and frankly, unprofessional. We felt judged based on our appearance, which was not only disrespectful but completely out of line with the level of service expected at an establishment like yours. The experience ruined what was meant to be a joyful night for our friend and left all of us feeling disappointed and embarrassed. I hope you will take this feedback seriously and ensure better training in hospitality and guest relations. No one should be made to feel uncomfortable or unwelcome, especially not in a place that prides itself on premium...
