We recently dined at The Peacock in The Sheraton JBR, and it was a fantastic experience. The restaurant has a beautiful traditional Chinese ambiance with lanterns, booths, and a spacious layout that makes you feel immersed in Chinese culture.
We started with fish crackers and three different chili sauces, then ordered a few signature dishes based on the staff’s recommendations. The Hot & Sour Szechuan Style soup was delicious, loaded with tofu, mushrooms, bamboo shoots, egg whites, and prawns. We also enjoyed prawn on toast and chicken and prawn dumplings filled with minced chicken, Chinese cabbage, shiitake mushrooms, spring onions, sesame oil, and carrots, served with a tasty dipping sauce.
For our main courses, we had the Gong Bao Chicken with baby corn, diced chicken, mushrooms, onions, red chili, and cashews — it was flavorful and paired perfectly with jasmine rice. The sizzling beef with broccoli was tender and savory, and the stir-fried egg noodles with shrimp and vegetables was a great addition.
We finished with Banana Fritters topped with caramel netting over ice cream and deep-fried ice cream — both were delightful desserts. Overall, The Peacock offers authentic Chinese cuisine in a family-friendly environment, making it a great place for a relaxed meal with loved ones. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a quality...
Read moreBeen eating at Sheraton since 20 years or so. Today, I ate here almost after a year but there were many flaws this time:
Soups were cold and tasteless Extremely understaffed so long waits and very bad service It was very stuffy, so air-conditioning needs improvement The worst was that I booked three days before visiting and on the day I called as usual to confirm my booking and they said there was no booking under my name! That was a bummer as their manager was not being helpful at all and was just trying to blame me for not booking. Finally some one from front desk got us a booking, so that was a very stressful and bad experience.
The good: Duck was very tasty as usual Staff was trying their best but failed to provide adequate service due to understaffing Provided free dessert as it was a bday dinner
Conclusion: Except for the soup, the rest of the taste was very good but I wouldn't go there again until they improve greatly on ambience...
Read moreMy Husband and I have enjoyed many great dinners at the Peacock-in fact it's his favourite Chinese restaurant in Dubai. The food is always generous portions and very tasty, we highly recommend the sizzlers! There has been a staff change over recently with Demi and Wei now in charge, and we had a lovely chat with them both, very engaging and pleased to look after us. We were welcomed downstairs by Bernadette who worked at the Peacock previously and is now in charge of the buffet restaurant on the ground floor of the Sheraton Jumeirah Beach resort. The staff we've met make the experience special. Considering the hotel and prime location the food is great value for money and currently benefits from discounts (2 for 1 main course) on the Entertainer. I would give it an overall 5 star rating. It's just such a shame...
