I recently visited this Persian restaurant in Bath and had a delightful experience, but I believe a few improvements could elevate it even further.
Atmosphere & Ambiance: The restaurant's atmosphere was inviting, and we immediately felt at ease. However, the branding could be more aligned with its Persian identity. The logo, designed in what seemed like Arabic script, didnât convey a clear connection to Persian culture. A more authentic Persian font would reflect the heritage better and eliminate any confusion for first-time visitors like ourselves.
Food: We ordered Mirzaghasemi, Koobideh Kebab, and Gheimeh Bademjoon. Overall, the food was tasty, and the portions were generous, but there were a few details worth noting:
Koobideh Kebab: The Koobideh Kebab was flavorful, and the sides were perfectly cooked. One small adjustment I would suggest is serving it with white onions instead of purple or red ones, as white onions complement the dish better. Additionally, the kebab was served as one large skewer. In my opinion, splitting it into two skewers would allow it to cook more evenly, resulting in a more tender and delicious texture.
Gheimeh Bademjoon: This dish was good but fell short of what I would consider traditional Persian Gheimeh Bademjoon. The menu mentioned lamb meat, but the meat we received tasted more like beef. Moreover, the stew lacked the signature "lemony" tang that comes from dried lime (limoo amani), which is a hallmark of this dish in Persian cuisine. The aubergine added sweetness, but without the sourness from dried lime, it became too sweet for my taste. Additionally, the lentils needed a bit more cooking time to soften properly. A touch of cinnamon in the stew would have brought out more authentic flavors.
Mirzaghasemi: This dish was fantastic! It had the perfect smoky flavor, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The restaurant graciously offered free bread on the house, which was a lovely gesture. However, I would have preferred the bread to be served without any special treatmentâitâs the little things like this that enhance the authenticity of the experience.
Drinks: We ordered Doogh (yogurt drink), and it was absolutely spot-onârefreshing and authentic. If youâre looking for a true Persian drink, I highly recommend it!
Music: My only other suggestion would be regarding the music selection. While we were there, they played modern pop songs about breakups, which didnât quite fit the ambiance of a Persian dining experience. I believe nostalgic Persian songs by artists like Hayedeh, Mahasti, Ebi, or even some traditional and folklore music would complement the atmosphere far better and evoke that true Persian feel.
Overall, it was a good experience, and I would definitely return for another meal. With a few tweaks, this place has the potential to be a standout Persian restaurant in Bath. Thank you for the...
Read moreFood taste is good tbh not a single issue with kebabs , Gheymeh and Joojeh and mast khiar and zeresk polo taste , it is also very clean(been to toilet so i can confirm) but a few points : 1- none of Iranian foods are famous to be spicy, maybe is influence of indians living in the UK and this iranian (not sure why insist so much to call themselves persian in their website) restaurant try to please their converted taste so putting jalapinos in the plate is not an iranian thing 2- name of restaurant and theme is Arabic(more like moroccan) with turkish lights and Arab pictures staffs are full Eng accent and if it wasnt menu and cheetoz and Ghoori , you wouldnt realize its Iranian (insist of lion and sun flag is another story in their menu) 3-portion of bread is very not enough , they are actually very exp for a meal cost you £40 per person - ill explain how they round it up to get that figure : when they charge extra for rice(so called Saffron) , and too much for small plate of yoghurt and drinks 4- and more important than all made me to write this is: we dont live in the US , so we dont have to tip the staffs , you might say you didnt force it , but when you already added to the bill , do you expect me to argue with you to knock that off , its very very unclear and disrespectful and if you didbt do that i wouldnt write all of above, but mandatory tip for the service you need to give me? Its very unacceptable , it called rip off and you need to understand not all can argue and say no especially when they come with their families , so i hope you change this nasty policy , although im sure you are goin to justify yourself with some excuses but we both know you intentionally do this to...
