I have no bad word against it here whatsoever!
This was my maiden trip to Bath on my partners recommendation and after disappointment in Swansea for breakfast, we decided this would be our stop. I was in awe from the get-go with the architecture of the area and The Raven managed to blend in and stand out all at once.
When we arrived, people were outside taking photos as part of a local walking tour and it was only 1045 so I was amazed at how busy the city had already gotten.
We parked at The Cattle Market near the Double Tree and it was only a short walk to Quiet Street and we were here.
We were welcomed straight off the bat by people who really looked like they enjoyed where they were! Our order was taken and I was all too enthusiastic to go exploring further!
The Raven is a bar/gallery/library set across three floors with a cosy, historic feel with the modern touches and quirks that also felt quite gothic in nature, it was really quite beautiful! I got so sidetracked on the third floor with the library that my partner had to message me down to get the main floor for our food!
We had a large breakfast with black pudding, which was served on a bed of spinach and I swear I have never had a breakfast like it! The hash brown was beautifully seasoned and 'ruddy' massive. The chipolatas were divine and I couldnt get enough of them!! All of which was locally sourced.
The bar has its own ale as well but given our time of day, we were reluctant to drink anything alcoholic, however we were very pleased to see little gift sets with cups and glasses merchandised with 'The Raven of Bath' on the side and a set now sit proudly in glass's cupboard.
The toilets were just right also with a gentlemans downstairs or a unisex up half a flight.
Pricing was reasonable too with the whole meal, two pots of earl great and the pint glass and gin glass coming well under £40.
5* would highly recommend and...
Read moreThe Raven was the undeniable highlight of my time in Bath. Tucked away just enough to feel like a local secret, it delivers everything you’d want in a proper British pub. The pints were flawless and beautifully kept, perfectly poured, with an ever-changing lineup of cask ales, including a few standout house brews. Beer lovers will appreciate the rotating taps, which showcase both local craft and traditional favourites.
The food was equally impressive. Their pies are a thing of legend, hearty, flavourful, and clearly made with care served with endless gravy (your choice of a few different kinds). The bangers and mash were some of the best I’ve had: rich gravy, creamy mash, and sausages with a proper snap. We found ourselves returning again and again: four visits in three days speaks for itself. The last night with got our pies “loaded” with lots of extra roasted vegetables. So tasty.
What really sets The Raven apart, though, is the atmosphere. It strikes the perfect balance between lively and relaxed, with a friendly crowd and an old-world feel that’s steeped in history. The staff were warm, friendly, polite and full of local knowledge, always happy to offer a recommendation or share a story.
It’s a favourite among locals, tourists and students alike, and there’s something magical about overhearing drama students running lines in the corner, all adds to the character of the place.
Whether you’re after a memorable meal, a quality pint, or just a proper pub experience, The Raven is an absolute must...
Read moreTucked away on a charming little street in Bath, The Raven is the sort of place you hope to stumble upon but rarely do. We arrived on a busy bank holiday to find it packed, every table taken, and a gentle buzz of conversation filling the place. Always a good sign. Clearly no secret to the locals.
The food was outstanding. No exaggeration. Easily the best pub meal I’ve ever had. Rich, perfectly seasoned, and served piping hot, it was comfort food taken to another level. And the beers, what a selection. A proper range of craft brews that hit the spot, each one with its own character. If you enjoy a decent pint, this place is heaven.
The staff were brilliant, welcoming without being over the top, helpful but relaxed. We were actually sent here by a waitress at another restaurant who were too busy to seat us. When asked where to go for the best food in town she pointed us straight to The Raven. Now I see why.
No gimmicks. Just honest, exceptional pub fare in a place that gets the balance just right. I’d go back in a heartbeat.
Highly...
