Browns in Bristol Bath is truly a culinary gem that deserves every one of its five stars! From the moment you walk through the door, you are enveloped in an atmosphere of elegance and sophistication. The charming decor sets the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable dining experience. The head chef, Sebastian, is nothing short of a culinary wizard; his passion for food is evident in every dish that graces the table. The presentation is a work of art—each plate meticulously crafted to not only satisfy the palate but also captivate the eyes. The attention to detail extends beyond the food; the cutlery is polished to perfection, enhancing the upscale dining experience. Each meal is complemented by an exquisite selection of wines that have been thoughtfully curated to pair beautifully with the menu. The attentive customer service truly elevates the experience, with staff who are knowledgeable, friendly, and eager to ensure your visit is nothing short of spectacular. What’s more, with such an exceptional dining experience, the prices are surprisingly reasonable, making Browns a must-visit for both locals and visitors alike. This is not just a place to eat; it’s a celebration of culinary artistry. I wholeheartedly recommend that everyone treat themselves to a meal at Browns. You won't be disappointed!

The decor reminds me a bit of the Ivy, or the interior of a smart hotel. We arrived at 7:30pm on a Saturday and the place was only half full, which given how spacious the place is, gives it a bit of an errie vibe. It was too quiet. They had a piano in the middle of the restaurant but no one was playing it. We had a seafood sharing platter to start which was really good. Plenary of different seafood and ample dipping sauce. Cocktails were delicious. I had a picante “spicy” mango cocktail, and it certainly lived up to its name! However the gin and tonic came pre poured, which is poor My mother had the chicken schnitzel, but it was not prepared correctly. The incorrect breadcrumbs were used, and this ended up giving the chicken a “film” of batter. Additionally, it came with fries, despite mother asking for a green salad side. I had the monkfish curry which was tasty and exactly as described. I enjoyed the onion topping. Creative and added texture. Out server (Yee Lin) was served us very well but agreed that the chicken schnitzel was not prepared correctly. It ended up getting taken off the bill.

We went to Browns for brunch on 4th December 18. The rest is very convenient for both the train station and the high street and a great place to use as a meeting place. On arrival the staff were very attentive and saw us to our lovely table in the window. The building is charming and the restaurant has an old world charm that feels very classic but not stuffy. The staff all wear smart back and white with French style long aprons, and are verb polite but not in a parisian way! I had Lobster Benidict which was very tasty although sadly one bit, of the very small amount of Lobster, was too chewy to eat, I didn't want to make a fuss so just pushed it to the side. My companion had avocado and feta on toast and said it was lovely. We both had a coctail, how decadent on a Tuesday morning! We had to wait for some time for the staff to cone into the room so that we could ask for the bill, and then again as something was wrong with the till. But the staff were attentive whilst we waited. I wouldn't hesitate to recomend for brunch and I would think they are equally good for other meals.

We had our wedding reception booked here for the 16th August. We hired a section of the restaurant so we could have it the entire evening. This was all dealt with efficiently over email after viewing the restaurant area and a pre-order was also taken. We visited the restaurant the day before the wedding and although our party was only small (17 people) we were slightly worried the space was now too small (which was completely our fault). Earl kindly offered another, bigger part of the restaurant at no extra cost, and took the responsibility of arranging and setting it up for the next day. I left the restaurant happy and confident that everything would be taken care of and in place for the meal the following day.

The next day, when we sat down for dinner Earl had ensured the tables were set up and had laid our cake out beautifully. He ensured we all had a champagne toast for the speeches and even gave the children at our table a rose lemonade in small champagne glasses which was such a thoughtful touch. The children were so happy at being included and it was such a good demonstration of someone who does their job well. Because we wanted to do our speeches before eating, Earl made sure to not put our food order through until we were ready. I realise we were not the only customers that night and with a big order of 17 it could have been slightly chaotic but not once did it feel like that. Earl was so efficient and professional and we never felt rushed. He put our order through and all starters, mains and desserts came in a timely manner, the wait was not long between courses nor too short that we felt it was a rushed event. The food was absolutely incredible. There was not one complaint, absolutely everybody in our party enjoyed their meals. They accommodated our gluten free member especially well. We ordered numerous sides and I find that usually these are forgotten and have to be asked for but even these arrived with the exact meals they were ordered with. Me and my husband were so impressed with the food and the service. Earl is amazing at his job - each member of our party always had a drink in front of them and when ordering more we never had to wait long at all. It is all down to his attentiveness, attention to detail and care. Even when he had to leave for a short while (possibly for his break) he let us know who would be responsible for serving us instead. This was Harry who was equally amazing at his job. He had great wine knowledge and was happy to recommend cocktails and drinks. He, like Earl, was incredibly professional but also approachable, easy to talk to and made our wedding reception feel like a special event that they really cared about. The barman who made our drinks (I did not catch his name) was fascinating to watch, he had real care and talent for his job.

I honestly do not have a single complaint about the evening. I am so glad we held our reception here and would recommend this branch of Browns to anyone looking for a place to hold a special occasion. We did have a meal here the day before also and this was of the exact same amazing standard so I would also recommend for a simple dinner or lunch. The staff, particularly Earl and Harry really make this restaurant. They are a credit to the food industry and do their job incredibly well, to very high standards. We could not be more grateful for such an incredible, laid back, special dinner. Thank you so much, we cannot wait to come back when...

This was my first trip to Bath and I was blown away by the stunning architecture of the city, the Bath stone painted a wonderful backdrop to an enjoyable day of sightseeing. However, all that walking worked up a significant appetite, this is where we stumbled upon Browns.

We hadn't made a reservation as I believe fate dictates your path and we were fortunate enough to be able to be seated at a wonderful table where we were treated to a full view of this bustling restaurant.

As soon as we were sat and made comfortable, we were introduced to our waiter, Tom. He instantly made us feel like we were at home as he talked us through the menu with such knowledge and confidence that we were putty in his hands and followed his recommendations throughout our visit. His enigmatic patter not only encouraged us to enjoy a bowl of olives whilst we sat and talked but talked my wife into a quite delicious Strawberry Daiquiri.

The gooey Camembert to start was a decadent treat and the perfect sharer as we waited in anticipation for our mains. I enjoyed a perfectly cooked Ribeye whilst my wife thoroughly enjoyed her Pulled Lamb Shepherds pie. This was accompanied by a fantastic bottle of Malbec again, well recommended by Tom who wouldn't permit either of us to touch the bottle, every time we went to top up our glasses he appeared from nowhere with a smile and poured more of this tasty tipple, as if he knew we were running dangerously low!

My wife ordered the salted caramel Profiteroles and, whilst I sternly maintained that I am not a dessert man, Tom slipped me a spoon "just incase" curiosity got the better of me and it absolutely did! Divine.

We rounded our meal off with coffees as we sat and relaxed. It was refreshing not to be rushed off a table when generally this is expected in a busy restaurant especially when not making a reservation.

Overall it was a first class meal, the setting was perfect, a seamless blend of classic brasserie with a contemporary flourish. Reasonably priced and all of the staff we encountered were fantastic but a particular mention to Tom who even recommended a great cocktail bar to visit on our way back to the hotel, but that's a story for another review...

5 Stars, would definitely recommend.

Apologies for the lack of photos but I am very much one of those "live in the...

Best Place of For A Wide-Range Food, Service, Atmosphere in Bath & The Staff Are Brilliant:

(03/07/2025):

I went into the Browns, Bath on Thursday 3 July, 2025 & I had one of the best customer hospitality experiences in recent years. Elementary, I write to express my sincere heartfelt appreciation & gratitude for Annabelle [Female Restaurant Waiter]. She delivered a highly professional & competent customer service, which she provided in both a friendly and accessible manner.

Annabelle [Female Restaurant Waiter], is incredibly "attentive" every time I come to eat at Browns, Bath & goes to great lengths to check on how my day had gone, which is what makes a "curated" high quality restaurant experience in my view. She produced a extremely satisfying customer experience from start to finish, for which I will always be grateful for. An example, is she gave me good advice to what dessert [ Stick Toffee Pudding was sublime] & her choice didn't disappoint. Furthermore, I would absolutely recommend, Annabelle [Female Restaurant Waiter], as she was incredibly curating, extremely knowledgeable about the "Browns Menu" & punctilious throughout my "lovely customer experience".

I would strongly recommend Browns, Bath" duo, to their eclectic distinguished atmosphere, great range in food options & unbeatable collection of beverages.

Annabelle [Female Restaurant Waiter], is the Embodiment of "Browns Browns Brasserie & Bar ...
