We visited thos establishment before a dinner reservation to celebrate a special birthday. We arrived at approx 645pm on 8th March. The place was busy, but we got a table and read the menu. The reason we chose this place for a cocktail was that our restaurant was 5 a minute walk away, and we wanted to raise a glass of an espresso martini to a recently departed friend. We went to the bar to order our happy hour drinks only to be told it's table service. We waited 25 minutes before we saw a member of staff to attract their attention. He apologised for the wait when we told him how long we have waited as he had been busy doing masterclasses for the past 4 hours??? Due to our long wait, we didn't have time for 2 drinks, so my friend and I ordered espresso martini, thinking we would have the happy hour price for 2 drinks. Our partners ordered drinks not included in happy hour. The server then brought a small ramekin dish of rice crackers as an apology, but weirdly, he acted as though he had given us a dish of caviar, and we should be very grateful. Very strange. Anyway our drinks came at 7.28pm and we asked for the bill. The bill was ÂŁ45!!! For 4 drinks when 2 of the four should've been happy hour price! So that made no sense. Due to lack of time, we had to drink our drinks quickly and not enjoy them at a leisurely pace as planned before leaving to get to our restaurant reservation. What added " salt to the wound" was a party of 6 came in at 720 and got served straightaway by a female server, and they received their drinks before we left! A very disappointing experience at Bath, unlike your Cardiff branch, which is always excellent! Will not be returning or recommending,...
Read moreDo not book the gin making & afternoon tea. Did the gin making class and afternoon tea as part of a hen do in September. Would not recommend, at all. Ended up asking for money off the bill due to a variety of issues. Speakers weren't working (so literally no music in the room we were in!). Bathrooms needed cleaning and refilling with soap. No water glasses or water, needed to ask. No napkins, needed to ask. No actual guidance on how much ingredients we were supposed to put in our gin - meaning 2/3 of our teapots ended up tasting pretty awful. Tonic water wasn't cold. We were told to 'use your fingers' to give the gin teapot a mix or to taste...?! The food had already been put out before we had arrived. The two cakes that accompanied the scones were tray bakes and just cut up into squares. Compared to other afternoon tea service I do not think it is worth the price. The food was fine, but just not up to a high enough standard. The staff were friendly - and did offer me 20% discount - but even with that I do not think it is worth the money.
It feels like they are trying to just make money by booking it out in the day, but clearly don't have the time or staff to really put the energy into it. It should just remain as a nightclub unless they really...
