I visited Hall & Woodhouse Bath on a Saturday evening for dinner and drinks with some family. The restaurant and bar is spread over several levels, with the ground floor mainly a bar, then a restaurant level on the first floor. They've also got a rooftop terrace, which would have been nice to enjoy a pre-dinner drink if it wasn't being a typical British summer and raining. The meal started off very strong, as I shared a Baked Somerset Camembert - which was very well flavored and had plenty of things to dip in it. I opted for the Nduja Chicken for my main course, which was very disappointing. The sauce with the rather small chicken breast was essentially a spicy oil - but it was completely over-powering and just made everything greasy. It cost nearly £20 too - so not cheap 'pub grub'. The drinks at Hall & Woodhouse were good, and I must say the Long Island Iced Teas were very well made and good value too. The service we had in the bar was quite slow and the waitress who served us looked like she wanted to go home. However, the service once we were sat in the restaurant was much better. The staff were friendly and attentive, and made sure we were well looked after. Overall, it was a mixed bag whilst visiting Hall & Woodhouse. Parts of it were good, parts of it were bad. It's definitely a place to visit for drinks - however I would potentially think twice before visiting again for food.

Something of a hidden-gem this place as whilst it’s quite a large venue it’s a bit tucked away. We were looking for somewhere to have a nice lunch to finish of a great “Christmassy” weekend away in Bath and so settled for this place. My wife ordered Roast Beef, whilst I went for the Pork Loin dish which comes with mash on the menu, plus a few sides/extras. The mushroom starter is a lovely dish to get going with, great to share we found. The Halloumi Fries were okay, a bit overcooked unfortunately but the dip worked well. The roast Beef was very nice, moist and full of flavour. The Yorkshire puddings were overcooked sadly. In regards to my Pork Loin dish it served as a sort of hybrid as it didn’t come with mash as advertised but instead Roast potatoes. Erin provided us with great service going above and beyond in my opinion, not often you find that these days. Toilets were found to be clean and generally in good condition aside from a broken tap in the gents. I would have happily given this place a 5-Star review if the food hadn’t been overcooked and served correctly, sadly I have to mark it down as I would have expected better.

Had a family meal for four here today. Atmosphere was nice, looked great. Very disappointed with the food which cost me 85 pounds for four. I had a satay burger. the chicken was a tiny portion no where near even half a chicken breast. On top of this it was dry and tasteless. And the satay for this was a small spoonful of satay sauce atop the chicken. Not very inventive there. They fries were ok, but hey it's fries right and the chilli jam was tasty, but when the small pot of sauce is the tastiest part of your 18 pound meal, it's bad. Not exaggerating but a meal deal of the day McDonald's chilli chicken wrap for 1.99 beats this for taste and value hand's down. My partner had mac and cheese, and a small dish of this came with a scrunch of salad leaves, that also is not a good values meal for another 18 pounds. Sorry but in today's world they need to try harder.

Mediocre was the word of the day. We had the Sunday Roast (beef) lunch. Nothing was offensive, but nothing stood out and we were overall disappointed. Would not recommend unless you want a nice looking place to sit and have drinks. The beef was dry and overcooked - later when we walked past the kitchen we saw that all the meat is pre-carved and sitting on the warmers. Which means that if you're lucky to get the top of the plate, it's nice and juicy, but if you're unlucky like the 4 of us, you get the dry overcooked ones at the bottom of the plate. The gravy was nice but so little was given that the dry beef remained dry and we had no gravy to eat the yorkshire puddings with. Portions in general were just ok for the price. While not rude, the service wasn't amazing either. Warm apple pie with custard was just ok. While nice, nothing to write home about.

Very cosy and popular place. It was our time visiting here and we were impressed with the food and the interior. It's such a cosy and beautiful venue, it was hard not to enjoy our brunch. It was definitely busy and lively and looked like a very popular spot in central Bath. The food was very good, tasty, good portions and well priced. My one and only complaint with the food was that the bottom burger bun was a bit soggy. Otherwise the burger was great! The only reason the 'service' received 4 stars was because we had to chase things up. The drinks order came incompete and so did the food order. The staff were polite enough but it appeared as if some things were forgotten. No biggie, plus the drinks/food came out quickly once we chased them up. The downstairs area is dog-friendly and there were plenty of water bowls around. Overall really enjoyed our visit!

We pre booked here and was really looking forward to it. The venue looks great and was nicely laid out, sadly they apparently failed to get their meat delivery so pretty much everything we wanted was off the menu. Our drinks, a Bloody Mary & Raspberry Mojito both of which were over filled with ice, tasted weak and watered down. The fish platter starter was nice but not as hit & miss. The White bait was tasty but the shrimp was flavour less. Thankfully our mains were a much needed improvement. Pie & Mash for me and Steak & Frittes for my wife. All very tasty but just a shame not to have a decent drink with it. I must add that the waitress was very attentive and polite. We didn't complain about the drinks out of guilt.
