I am writing to express my disappointment and frustration regarding the treatment we received as paying customers during our recent visit to the Dirty Martini Bar in Birmingham.
After being seated at a table for over 1.5hrs, we were abruptly asked to vacate our table without prior notice and told that it was booked or reserved. When we inquired if the table had indeed been reserved as there was no sign, the waitress responded rudely, stating, “It has now.” When we asked for clarification about notice or how long it would take for the other guests to arrive, she ignored us and demanded we move immediately in an abrupt manner. She offered no time for us to gather our things or discuss a flexible approach to the situation.
What happened next was even more excessive. The waitress unnecessarily called over three bouncers to handle the situation. The bouncers, to their credit, were respectful and professional, agreeing with us that the issue could have easily been resolved with a simple “reserved” sign on the table and they could see we were happy to move and that we were just frustrated due to the waitress approach to the situation. To add to our frustration, the table remained vacant for over half an hour, clearly indicating that there was no urgency, and we could have been given sufficient time to finish our drinks without this unnecessary confrontation.
Later, my friend briefly sat on an edge seat of an unoccupied table and was once again asked to move, which we did. At no point resisting direction from the bouncers. We then continued dancing. Shortly after, one of the bouncers approached us again to inform us that the manager had instructed that we finish our drinks and leave the premises. This level of hostility toward paying customers was both unwarranted and disrespectful. The bouncers left us, know that we were causing no issues or a threat to anyone, allowing us to finish our drinks.
On leaving, we attempted to speak to the manager to explain how the situation could have been resolved with prior communication or even basic courtesy. However, the manager rudely dismissed our concerns, stating they didn’t need to inform us about the table reservation and should have moved straight away, showing a complete lack of respect for us as customers. Understandably, this caused us to feel even more frustrated and unwelcome.
We were beyond understanding at this point. The disrespect and lack of basic hospitality shown to us by the manager were entirely unacceptable. What should have been a straightforward situation was blown out of proportion by untrained, inexperienced staff who clearly have no understanding of how to manage people in a busy bar environment.
The entire situation stemmed from poor communication and unprofessionalism on the part of management. What I will say is that the bouncers were respectful and demonstrated a willingness to listen to and understand our frustrations, which we appreciated.
This incident highlights a serious lack of management experience and fairness in handling customer interactions.
This experience left us furious and disheartened. It is deeply disappointing that a venue we have previously enjoyed has stooped to such unprofessional and disrespectful practices. Effective communication and common courtesy could have prevented all of this, but instead, we were met with hostility.
We will not be returning to Martini Bar, and we will not recommend it to others. I urge you to review your management practices, train your management properly in people management and ensure that your customers are treated with the respect...
Read moreThis was my first time doing a bottomless brunch at Dirty Martini and it was disappointing. We booked a few months in advance and booked 12pm as it was only £30 per person with a £20 deposit, we then didn't receive the payment link for the remaining money for a little while, which I've heard is odd. When we did, it was for £70, not the £40 like we expected, we called up and were told that it was £45 per person due to Christmas but that we would get a special festive brunch with a Christmas martini. This seemed odd as we booked when it said £30, but figured it would be nice and festive.
When we got there, there were hardly any decorations, just a small tree on the bar. We got our prosecco on arrival, which was nice, but then had to wait about 15 minutes to place our first drink order, even though the 1.5 hour timer had started. We then placed the order and had to wait awhile. The staff were all talking amongst themselves and looking at paper work. I went to the bar and enquired if the drinks sat there were ours and if I could just take them back myself. I was told that they weren't and ours were coming up. But then when I got back to our table the same drinks that had been sat there were brought over to us. We constantly had to wait for drinks. Finally our server said we could place 2 orders at the same time since we had limited time, but even then, they took a while. We also didn't get out food until close to 1pm, everyone else seemed to have had and finished theirs. We were told it had to come up in a lift and so was slow.
In terms of the food, for the price, there wasn't much. It was nice but other than a bit of stuffing and a pig in blanket, it wasn't festive or different. We also didn't get a festive martini or anything special. So the extra £15 per person was pointless and seemed to be just a way for them to milk the Christmas season for all its worth. We were told we omdodnt have long left for the table, so we finished our food and then near the end we were told we would have to leave in 2 minutes but could finish our drinks at the bar.
Really it was probably the worst brunch I have done. I loved the company I was with but if it wasn't for them, it would have been a bit of a wash out. Las iguanas does a much better brunch and is only...
Read moreWORST BOTTOMLESS BRUNCH!!!! I never leave bad reviews but this was too bad for me not to say anything at all, especially the shocking customer service we received. They had clearly Overbooked the brunches and normal customers, knowing how busy it would be for a bank hol they should have taken this into account to ensure everyone in the venue was having a good experience. The Food didn’t fit on the table as they sat four of us on a table for two and put the rest of the food on a stool. The food quality was ok and this is the only reason they have 1 star, otherwise it would be 0. They then told us the cocktail menu had changed and all they had available were gin and tonics and wine cocktails, none of us like these spirits or drinks. When complaint to the manager on the evening, they said “try the pineapple or strawberry they are nice and don’t taste like wine” so I proceeded to ask the waitress for these but she told me only the pineapple was on the brunch - so clearly the staff were confused as to what was included either the manager didn’t know or she didn’t. We tried the cocktails they suggested and they were disgusting, mainly tasted of water. My friends mother then joined us (as they were out in the area) came to say hello and then say with us to buy us a drink because we didn’t like the ones they had and they weren’t serving us as you should in a bottomless brunch I had to call staff over a number of times to even try and order a drink - so all in all we had 1 glass of Prosecco on arrival and 3 cocktails from the menu - then 1 that my friends mother paid for. All in the space of 1.5 hours. We’ve then sent an email to complain, as we spent a lot of money for a birthday present, explaining our experience…only to be told they watch the cctv and said we had 6 drinks (false) and they gave us a vodka cocktail (no they didn’t it was from my friend mother - we had the receipt to prove this) and they ended the email with well sorry to hear you had a bad experience but not our problem kinda tone - absolutely disgusting - no one in the bar looked like they were having a good time and all said how made the staff were. I would definitely not recommend and it’s actually put me off going to another brunch as it was such a...
