I came on the weekend with my friend, and we had the “shared dining lunch special”, that’s available from 12:00 - 16:00. We had the option to choose from 4 dishes + 1 side dish (£18.50) or 6 dishes + 2 side dish (£24.50) per person. After looking at the menu, we went for the 6 dishes and 2 sides because there was so many options we wanted to try! For the sides we went for Edamame, Pickled Cucumbers, Fried Rice and a Korean Purple Rice. Which came out first so we ate it as a starter. We ventured out for Karaage Salmon, from the deep fried section and Beef Bulgogi from the grilled section. Which was so delicious and ate it along with our sides. We both went for the ramen soup bowl. As we were tucked into our food, the sushi came which we completely forgot about! So we felt a bit pressured to finish our dishes as the server wanted to put it all on one table. But luckily one of the staff got a table and put it next to us. We had a variety of sushi as it was my friends first time trying sushi, so we got the nigiri classic, deluxe salmon duo (which was our favourite), spicy urumaki roll, crunchy combo, deluxed flamed duo, luxury set, lastly the tuna and salmon set. Unfortunately, we got too full to finish and so it felt like we were forcing ourselves. Really appreciate the staff for checking up on us and providing a take out box. As I know it was impossible to provide. There was a 10% service charge applied to the bill and we had the refillable green tea, ice tea and a lychee drink. Overall, there was a lot of tasty options but it was a lot! But knowing now we would definitely come again and definitely recommend!

Perfect location as it is not far from the train station, and you can also find pubs and clubs in the same area! We love sushi in general, but we definitely recommend this restaurant! If you want to eat a lot and decide to go for the "All You Can Eat" style, you can let the staff know before seating and they will explain how it works and what you are allowed to order, plus their Waste policy (which is essential to avoid food waste! Fair enough, I agree with that totally!) Jamie was our waiter for the evening, very professional, prepared and available! All the staff seems to be friendly and available, and the place seems to be very clean. The atmosphere is quite and relaxing, the interior patterns are pretty sober but stylish. There is only one theme and the dark chairs/tables are a great match with the wallpaper! The food was really good, except for the "grilled shrimps" which looked and tasted like if they have only been boiled. The rice is nice, not sweet and cheewy like the one in other sushi-places in UK! It is pretty light (but rice always fills you up anyway) and does not stick to your teeth. The fish looked and tasted fresh. The combination and menu options are not the usual ones but they are interesting and tasty! Amazing tempura and sashimi set! Loved the Summer Specials and absolutely want to try again the miso soup. Overall, stars are deserved. Keep doing well! Thank you, and see you soon again ♥ (will update this review after my next visit)

Good experience at Kyoto but pretty pricey. Had a lovely experience at Kyoto on a Thursday evening on one of the Birmingham events night for the commonwealth games. Staff were quick and helpful. My friend is halal and a halal menu was provided to them, including info about different sauces and what they couldn’t eat on the menu. We found this very helpful. As most reviews have mentioned, the ordering system is through a ticket menu and you opt for 2 dishes per a round, 4 rounds in total (sides are not included in the 2 dishes limit). My friend and I decided to do starter as the first, 2 mains and then a dessert for the 4 rounds. Drinks are not included in the buffet price. Anything you can’t finish, you will have to pay extra so make sure you go on a fairly empty stomach. A service charge is also included in the bill. Food wise, it was decent. There’s definitely better sushi around Birmingham. Sushi sizing was pretty small but does fill you up, same goes with the rest of the food too. Overall, a good place for sushi and buffet but definitely pricey and better places around Birmingham. For more things to do and places to eat in Birmingham, follow moments.with.Maggie on Instagram 😊

2nd august 2025 - me and my wife took a trip to the Kyoto, all you can eat restaurant in Birmingham. It was a birthday meal treat and it is something we've done this now for the last 5 years. Hell, We've even come here for our wedding anniversaries, the wife loves it so much but this is the first time I've actually been horrified and disappointed by the service we received!! 1st - We called the number and asked if we could book a table the person on the phone said we didn't need to and we should just turn up, so we did only to be asked and told when we arrived "did you book a table? Your going to have to wait" 2nd - after getting seated we place our first order of the flamed sushi and the 2nd of hot salmon, ribeye, crab claw and ebi pawn then waited as you do... 9 orders came to our table, 9 orders that we had not ordered which was upsetting us. Or table ordering card was then taken from us and we waited 39 mins, more food arrived and it wasn't what we wanted with the waitress and waiters looking at us like we were playing games with them 20 mins on the 2nd order we placed did turn up it was cold, burn chewy from being sat. Only to have a man come over and apologise for the error. Another large table had the same number as ours and the staff was sending it's food to us. By then after an hour and half did we get asked " would you like a drink?" We ordered a large lychee juice and the other half had, had enough so didn't order anything.

We got an apology from the man saying they were sorry about the mix up and that our drinks would be on the house. My wife who's birthday it was said that it was a nice gesture but it was only that empty words. More food came to our table that we didn't ask for so we decided to order the little desserts and leave only for a plate of salmon to come to the table. We were horrified as this was not part of the all you can eat buffet meal and comes at extra costs. My wife was ready to cry her birthday meal was so disappointing and then we got told it was on the house and a gift. We didn't care the meal had been rewend and when we left to play the man asked " how was your meal?" We hold him. Horrible, we explained everything and he just looked yus like.... So what do you want me to do. Then when handed the bill not only was we charged full price for all ordered even the supposedly on the house drinks where charged us. In the 5 years we have been coming here this has been the worst and we now question if it will...

The first thing that hit me about this all you can eat "concept" restaurant when I got inside... Rules!

There are many rules to this restaurant but the main two you need to be aware of is that you must finish eating within two hours and excess food wastage will be charged for! It's all you can eat not all you can order!

Food was on par with any substandard buffet restaurant (Big Wok, Ming moon etc) much of the food was low quality, greasy and stodgy. The gyoza were particularly greasy, and the fried chicken was severely overcooked.

The sushi wasn't particularly good either and most other sushi restaurants in the city will beat it for taste and quality (as well as price). I would definitely avoid the sweet shrimp as it tasted like body lotion and is probably the worst thing I have ever eaten.

Sour cucumber was very good though, it was the only dish that i really enjoyed and I ordered it twice.

Deserts were so so, and the limit of one scoop of cheap ice cream per person seemed ridiculous.

Service was pretty dire, which I'm sure is the reason for the automatically added 10% gratuity. We weren't asked how the food was until after we had paid and we also were only asked if we wanted drinks once at the start of the meal, there also seemed to be one person delivering food and one person clearing which meant we had food arriving when our previous plates had not been cleared away so it was a struggle to fit the incoming food on the table.

Meal for two with two drinks came to around £50 which was massively overpriced for what you...
