Milano bar ristorante — Restaurant in Birmingham

I am very unhappy and dissatisfied with the reservation I had on Friday evening for my BIRTHDAY. The atmosphere was good until we ordered starters and were asked to order our mains there and then, we asked for half an hour between this and it seemed to be an issue. We had 2 more drinks I believe, and between this time were asked by a female waiter if we had ordered again. We then stepped outside for some fresh air, we were followed outside by a male waiter (who had already asked us to order food) who asked AGAIN, and I told him it isn't fair we were being rushed for a booking of 2. When going inside, I believe the manager came to our table and told us that our table was booked for a group booking, (there were already 2 tables of 10) which seemed to be getting very attentive service. The manager (I believe) then told us we had 15 minutes left on our table (WE HADN'T EVEN ORDER MAINS), he then MID MEAL moved us to a different table of 2. We received our food by 9.30, which was obviously rushed (still in the time frame of the meal). The reason why I haven't called to discuss this with the manager is due to his incompetence and how he dealt with this situation on the night, I have no faith it would be a different response. A waiter then came to the table to TAKE A PAYMENT for a meal that had just been placed on our table and hadn't even taken a bite of. At this point, me and my other half were angry and ensured to take a picture for my review I wanted to discuss with you and put on trip advisor or google reviews. Why should I pay for a meal when I haven't even eaten the main meal? Then the waiter asked us straight after if we wanted any more drinks. Well no, We've just paid the bill and at this point are very ready to leave. I received 2 good recommendations for this place and wish I didn't come in the end. You even ask to specify on the booking site if it is an occasion or not. It was my birthday and you did not cater or accommodate or even do anything for  this (which I even stated at the meal due to the rush and pushiness), I really don't see the point of asking if you are not willing to do anything for customers (I have been to places that have and lived up to this standard of service). Other things that I was disappointed with: -staff taking my glass before I had even finished the prosecco-pushy service-same waiter coming over to us 5-6 times within a time period of 20 minutes, pushing us to order food (wish I took their names)-being followed outside-saw bad service given to 2 girls seated next to us who were not happy either, we got moved from them MID MEAL although we had been speaking to them I was happy with: -the food was the good thing...

I've never had to walk out of a restaurant before and it was awful to have to on valentines day :-(

Firstly, I do not believe the photos properly represent how well the restaurant is maintained. I noticed that signs were broken, and the roses on the tables were fake which for the high prices they charge for food is not good enough, especially on Valentines night. Also, the tables were not prepared when we got there, the knives and forks were brought out in a draw organiser - not wrapped in napkins which was very unprofessional.

However, the thing that let the restaurant down the most was the service -or should I say lack of service. On arrival after waiting for around 10 minutes in the waiting area, we had to ask if we could be taken to our reserved table. After waiting a very long time without any interaction from staff, we had to again ask if we could order some drinks and have some menus brought to the table - the staff members would often say during the night that they would return back to take our order and not return, so we ended up asking to place food and drinks orders twice. The menus arrived on creased paper that I believe I could have printed better myself at home, and again we waited a very long time for service - until we resorted to asking to place our food order, at this time we also mentioned our drinks had still not arrived - we had to re-order our drinks as they had appeared to have 'lost' our order. Our food arrived before our drinks, one starter missing an accompaniment, when we mentioned this we were once again asked to re-order our drinks and nothing was done about the missing aspect of the meal. We were not asked at any point if our meals were satisfactory. When our starters were taken away, we once again asked for our drinks and were for a third time asked to re-order.

After such terrible service which made us feel invisible, unwelcome and tremendously let down, we informed the waiter that we would be leaving due to the terrible service.

Upon leaving, we noticed the staff member inform who appeared to be the manager of our ordeal - who simply shrugged.

After such a huge disappointment, I would definitely not recommend this...

Was expecting high standards for our evening meal last night however we were highly disappointed by the rude front of house man and the lack of service. Food was ok, I’ve had better lobster but it was ok. Considering we both ordered shellfish meals, I had to ask for a finger bowl and we received one to share. I also had to ask for a lobster cracker and pick. Again I thought that would be standard practise when ordering said meal. We were told we had 1 hour and 15 minutes on the table. I questioned this and said what if we hadn’t finished our food? The waitress told us service was fast and we will have. This immediately started to make the relaxing, evening meal our significantly rushed. Half past 8 came and not one waitress had visited our table since our mains were put down at 8:10pm. With finished mains still on the table at 8:55pm we had assumed the table wasn’t needed back and I could relax a little and get another drink and maybe even a desert. We then had the front of house man arrive at our table and his words exactly “we need this table back now”. We still had plates on the table, I was not offered a desert menu or after dinner hot drink. When I asked if I could see these menus and that we hadn’t finished our meals, I had clearly highly inconvenienced this man and he sighed and said “what do you want?”. At this point, I didn’t want anything more from this restaurant, we removed the service charge and left. A lovely waitress came over and finally asked if we’d like anything else and I said no we’ve been booted off the table and asked to leave. No deserts. Even though a couple sat next to had been there longer than us, had finished their night and was ready to leave. We wasn’t.
