Gyros Express — Local services in Birmingham

Have this twice now, once in the first few days it opened (some time toward the end of Jan 2022), and then today (21st Feb 2022), both times had the same meal. Chicken gyro meat and chips 🍗, chicken salad with chicken gyro meat 🥗.

Let me first start with the GOOD. The place has a few seats for eating in and it's very clean and maintained, the staff are welcoming and the bossman (Mano) is friendly. I would say that it's genuine Greek 🇬🇷 style gyros, some places advertising it are not authentic but this is 💯.

Now onto the FOOD. My friend's had a salad on both occasions and said that the first time they had it, it was huge and the portion was okay, unfortunately second time they had it the portion was small as anything!👎🏽 Moving onto the chicken gyro meat with chips 🥴. First of all I hope the bossman reads this review as it will help the business retain its customers 💯... DO NOT SKIMP ON THE CHICKEN MEAT PORTION! Honestly for the price you pay for the meal, it's not worth the portion size! Please, please, please give more meat and don't be stingy! For the price of the chicken gyro meat and chips, I could have gone to Tasty Plaice in Grand Central and got much more meat and chips for less! Now that's saying something. Don't get me wrong though, THERE IS FLAVOUR TO THE MEAT, AND GET THE SPECIAL SAUCE that they have as it's really nice!

I will give this place a 3rd try and hope that the portion size improves and that the bossman does read this or on of the staff members do because it will definitely help. I don't like to leave anything lower then 4* but I'm afraid on this occasion I have to.

DO NOT EAT FROM HERE - THEY WILL POISON YOU!

I ordered off Uber eats and got my food delivered to my hotel. They took long to prepare the food, the preparing time kept changing. When I received my food, I was excited as I was so hungry! It’s 1:00am and all I want to do is eat & have the best sleep! But no! I took my first bite out of the chicken and I’m crunching? That’s not right, chicken isn’t meant to crunch? Not only that the food was cold!!!!! I spat it out & the chicken was uncooked!!!!!! At this point I’m hangry!!!(hungry & angry at the same time). How can you give food that is uncooked???!!!!!! It’s dangerous & disgusting & could have been very serious if I didn’t know better!!!!!! That was it for me. I threw everything away! Including the sauces because how dare you give me raw food! Food & hygiene need to pay a visit & I suggest no one...

Detractors of the doner kebab often say you need to have 10 pints of beer before enjoying one. I usually disagree but this time, sadly, I'm with them. I visited at 5:20pm on a Monday and ordered Gyros Mix & Fries for £9.99. Friendly service and nice enough fries, but they cried out for the vinegar, mayo or ketchup that weren't offered. What doner meat I got was dry. The chicken was more plentiful but small pieces and tasted nice enough but more like Christmas turkey. I'm used to garlic mayo and/or chilli sauce with my kebabs but again neither was offered. The salad was mainly shredded lettuce which would have benefitted from the juice of a lemon wedge, again absent. Next time I'll go for a GDK, where I'll expect to pay less, albeit for a smaller portion, and get offered the usual kebab condiments at...
