Wow! Hasn't five guys changed not only is it more expensive than it was when I first tried it, but I don't think they're cooking their fries in the peanut oil anymore. And I ordered the Cajun fries. A word to the wise less is more. It was like eating salt mixed with flavoring Way too much!!! They still have the machines with the different sodas but the choice is pitiful now. I don't know if this is because it's the Bolton store but when I went there years ago to the Ashton store when there was less than 50 in the country they had way more choice and even then that was limited compared to what you getting a lot of them in London. Those machines can do 40 or 50 different flavors and five guys have got 12. It's like what's the point in even having the machine. You might as well just have a soda dispenser yeah it might look cool but you can't even get Cherry Coke 🤦 no Dr. Pepper cherry. Honestly, what's the point? Also, something I've noticed with the Bolton store is every time I go in there behind the count as a mess. This was never the case before. Now I don't know if it's because five guys have let standards slip now there's more stores or if there's Bolton store is just being run less. Stringent honestly, the only bright spot was the burger which is still nice but the price is they're nearly £11 now for a burger. They were always expensive but I mean really it's ground beef anyway, if I was ever to go to five guys again, I'd be tempted to try the original one in Manchester rather than go back to this one, but maybe it's just a five guys thing in general. I guess I'll find out one day and if it's the same as Bolton I'll never go there again Just another example of an American brand coming over and once it's been a couple of years the Americans head home and the British management concentrate on cutting costs rather than doing anything else to...
Read moreI went into the restaurant, its clean, fresh and friendly, served by young staff members, greeted with a smile etc, all is well, you can tell that they are still finding their feet, not a problem. I do wonder if the restaurant will be kept at a nice clean standard in the months to come, because when youngsters are working a restaurant, i find them reluctant to clean, especially the toilets in my experience.
Anyway today inparticular was a cheat meal day for me and i thought i would check out five guys here at middlebrook, i fancied two cheeseburgers, was only expecting to pay around £7 to £8 each, i looked at the cost and it was £10.35 for one!! That was before i started adding on chips and a drink, I only wanted the burger anyhow, so i bought one burger due to the cost.
Proper sit in restaurant prices at a fast food joint, total joke tbh.
I estimate that this place will be shut down within a year, because the local retail staff will not be forking out them costs everyday or week for a treat. Nor will people be willing to pay over £8 for a burger with macdonalds and TGI fridays around the corner.
TGI fridays next door will do you a decent meal, burger, chips etc for slightly more, throw in a drink and it will still be cheaper pound for pound spent.
Will i return here, nope. Would i recommend it? only if you have deep pockets and fancy an above average burger. When i unwrapped my burger it looked like something from macdonalds, i doubt this could be avoided due to how the burger is wrapped.
I have also visited the trafford centre five guys and the one at chester, and i could swear they are slightly cheaper per burger, i could be wrong. If Middlebrook is charging more, this will be for a couple of reasons IMO, 1) To capitalize on new customers and make a booming profit asap, 2) middlebrook charges alot of money for...
Read moreVisited five guys for the first time several weeks ago and although the price was higher than the fast food norm the food was excellent! I think still a little over priced for the environment as the restaurant itself is only a basic fast food type decor restaurant. We visited again today and the food was below average which has really put me off going back! I ordered the same bacon cheeseburger with grilled peppers, jalepeno and bbq. The bun was different, dry and cold and the grilled peppers which were delightful last visit where just chopped green pepper that hadnt seen a grill. The burger itself was literally half the meat as if half had fell off! Fries which were awesome first visit today were sweet as if they had been fried a couple times. Kids didnt finish their burgers this time nor did my wife. The soft drinks which are extremely highly priced were not right! Very sweet almost sickly lemon fanta and a sprite as if the machine was faulty! I have raved to people about our first visit but after this visit wont be recommending again nor will I likely revisit Five Guys. Shame as the kids where looking forward to their...
