Wow...where should I begin? The tasting menu was a fantastic dining experience...worthy of the celebration of our anniversary for sure. The dishes crescendoed in their excellence...each seemingly better than the last, despite the early courses being wonderful in their own right. Each was a perfectly balanced creation, mixing flavors and textures to perfection. To mention a few specifics (see the photos below, to see how each dish was presented) the hake was simple but overwhelmingly delicious when combined with the smoked roe and butter sauce...just fantastic. The lamb was probably my personal favorite, with the overlapping flavours of the different cuts of lamb, carrot and onion working together soooo well. The execution continued into the desserts...especially the chocolate, miso, sesame creation...mindblowingly good. Every course, while a perfect combination taste-wise, was also creatively built and presented...and the result was definitely worth the effort in the kitchen. We also had the paired wines, all of which had clearly been painstakingly thought through and further enhanced dishes served. Of special note was the Theodora from Austria which, which would not have been our first choice for drinking on its own, was perfectly complimented with Confit kohlrabi. Full credit for the team for getting the wine pairings right...this was as good as it gets. The service was flawless. The venue small but, as a result, kind of intimate. I wouldn’t hesitate to go again but it isn’t cheap...so it’ll only be for special occasions. The easiest 5 star review I have given in ages.

Amazing meal! I considered giving 4 stars due to issues at booking around dietary requirements but it was the best meal I’ve ever had and came away full, which isn’t always the case at fancy restaurants! The food was delicious, the service on the evening was so attentive, the staff were knowledgeable and it’s a lovely setting with great atmosphere. The issue we had was that they say they can accommodate for gluten free on their website so my (now fiancé) booked this for the night he was planning to propose, he put in the booking that I am gluten intolerant and did not receive a response. He contacted the restaurant before to confirm they’d seen the dietary requirement and received a response 2 days before, saying they cannot accommodate- this was very stressful. We struggled to find a table somewhere special on a Saturday night at 48 hours’ notice so decided to risk it and hope there wasn’t too much gluten involved (be careful and double check with the restaurant if you have requirements). After all of that stress, they were amazing and adjusted my food, creating my own menu to ensure I could enjoy every course! I would also recommend the wine pairing- amazing! It was a very special meal, just a shame about the stress in the lead up to our visit.

Really lovely tasting menu, I can’t think of any dish that I didn’t love but certainly my standout favourites were the raw beef and smoked ox heart and the tarte tatin with the blue cheese. Adelina Yard is set in a small and intimate restaurant and the atmosphere was really nice, especially early on when it was quiet but it does get loud and bustling as the evening goes on - we seated at 18.30 and left around 9.45, so strap in for a long meal! Pacing was excellent though, none of the dishes felt overwhelming and I left the restaurant feeling nicely full. We didnt opt for the wine flight but saw others did and it looked generous and the wines were high quality. Great choice for a special meal that doesn’t break the bank!

The best meal I have had anywhere in the world for at least 20 years.

Our Italian hostess, forgive me for not remembering her name, was absolutely delightful, sympathetic and knowledgable.

The food and wines were exquisite, so carefully planned and lovingly delivered.

The atmosphere was intimate and special, like a ‘secret discovery’ kind of place.

We arrived with an unannounced lactose intolerance and, despite expressly stating beforehand that they couldn’t cater for that, they managed exquisitely.

Areas for possible minor improvements …

1 : The heating is via an aircon unit, which feels quite dry and oppressive. Radiators would be an enormous improvement and important for a space where gastronomy is taken so seriously.

2 : In common with most restaurants, they do not take into account different palates. Some of us found the food delicate and elegant, but a some would have liked more powerful flavours. That really would be fine tuning.

3 : It’s easy to think you’ve locked yourself in the lavatory, the door needs a kick to open!

Visiting this lovely place made me wish I lived nearer to Bristol, but I will make it a compulsory stop on all future visits to the West Country.

I deliberately rated this one star, because even when people go looking for the worst reviews, they should find wholesome praise. Comment ‘5’ if you want me to change it.

Thanks so much, it was very...
