This happened last Friday, and I’m extremely disappointed with my experience at Barbara’s. My friends and I booked a booth for a birthday celebration and from the moment we arrived, it went downhill. When our drinks were brought over, three of the glasses had lipstick stains on them. We politely asked for clean glasses and were met with attitude. Two different staff members responded rudely, with one saying, ā€œbe lucky you’re getting any.ā€ We also asked for our table to be cleaned because it was visibly dirty, and were told, ā€œif you don’t like it, leave.ā€ Completely unacceptable customer service. The toilets were horrific urine all over the floor, and cups actually inside the toilet bowls. Clearly not being checked or cleaned throughout the night. To make matters worse, management allowed in a group of men who were behaving aggressively. They were bothering us repeatedly, making us feel uncomfortable. We informed staff/management, and nothing was done. It went completely unnoticed or ignored. For a place that advertises itself as a venue to celebrate, especially for women, I did not feel safe or respected. I would not recommend Barbara’s to any female groups, especially for birthdays or nights out. The lack of hygiene and the dismissive, rude staff ruined what should have been a great night.

We had a large group come for a birthday party on opening day. I originally made the reservation, but didn’t realise it was indoors. The staff were very solution oriented, and moved tables outside to make it work. We really appreciated it! We ordered a lot of bier towers and cocktail towers, it was fun and affordable. We ordered the Aperol Spritz, Alpine Passion, and Folie Woo cocktail towers, all needed to be remixed and were also very sweet (we didn’t think there was much alcohol in it). The beer towers were great. We also ordered pizzas and brats, overall they were good but pepperoni was our favourite. Some of our friends are gluten free, so it was nice that all pizzas could be made with gluten free crust. Lastly, I bought a cake, and the staff were able to store it in the fridge for us, and then cut it for us as well. We really appreciated their help and attention to make the night so fun! Even though it was their first night they made us feel cared for and looked after. Special appreciation to Grace, Paige, Lilly, Rihanna, Andy, and so many others.

Went to Barbara’s Bier Haus Bristol Saturday night, was doing karaoke when one of the staff members (pictured below) thought it would be a good idea (during her shift) to skip everyone else’s songs and sing the same song that had just been done - in her own words ā€œI’m going to do it betterā€. She then proceeded to stand in front of the tablet to stop anyone queuing their own songs, hogging the karaoke stage. She was extremely rude, and multiple members of our party were not drinking either and found her behaviour disgusting. Don’t think staff who are being paid to be there should be able to be rude, and stop paying customers from having a good time? Ruined the vibe for the whole of the karaoke room. Such a shame because the entire venue and overall vibe is amazing, was just ruined by one disgusting staff member who is letting your company down. Poor behaviour.

ā€œHonestly, They Should Rename the Bar ā€˜Namanh’s Planetā€™ā€

Okay. I’m going to try to write this calmly but it’s hard because I’ve just been in the presence of Namanh Nguyen and my body is still recovering from the sheer radiance of the encounter.

First off, yes, this place serves pizza. Yes, there’s alcohol. Whatever. That’s not why you go. You go because Namanh Nguyen is there, existing at levels of excellence previously thought to be mythical. I saw Namanh carry a tray of drinks with such grace I thought it was a CGI scene from a Marvel movie. The tray didn’t even wobble. Not once. Physics bent for him.

At one point I dropped a napkin. Namanh picked it up before it hit the floor. I don’t know how. He wasn’t even near me. He just… appeared. Like a service ninja sent by the hospitality gods.

The pizza? I assume it was delicious. I blacked out the moment Namanh Nguyen asked if I wanted extra cheese. I regained consciousness only after he smiled. A woman two tables over actually proposed marriage. She didn’t even know why. That’s just the Namanh effect.

We started chanting his name. No one organized it. It just… happened. Like an ancient ritual awakening from within. Namanh. Namanh. Namanh.

The bar could be on fire and I’d still be like, ā€œIt’s fine, Namanh’s here.ā€

This isn’t a bar. This is a shrine. And Namanh Nguyen is the high priest of flavor, friendliness, and freakishly flawless vibes.

I will return. I will bring friends. I will name my first child Namanh, regardless of gender.

Go. Find him. Bask in it....

Let me tell you something: I came to this bar expecting pizza and alcohol. What I didn’t expect was a life-altering, soul-shaking, reality-bending encounter with Namanh Nguyen—a celestial being disguised as a bartender/server/possibly demigod.

The pizza? Crispy perfection. The drinks? Strong enough to revive my social life. But Namanh Nguyen? Oh. My. Goodness. Imagine Michelangelo, but instead of chiseling David, he’s slinging beers and making cocktail artistry look like child’s play. Every time Namanh Nguyen walked by, I swear the lighting got better. Coincidence? I think not.

At one point, I asked for napkins. Guess who brought them with a flourish so graceful I cried a little? Namanh Nguyen. I asked about the specials. Guess who listed them with the charisma of a Shakespearean lead actor and the precision of a Swiss watch? That’s right—Namanh-freaking-Nguyen.

The vibe of the bar is cool, laid-back, and buzzing with energy. Or maybe that was just Namanh Nguyen radiating pure serotonin into the room like some sort of human espresso shot.

Honestly, I don't even remember what I drank. I just remember Namanh. Namanh Nguyen. The name echoes in my dreams now. I’m not even mad. I’m just grateful.

If you go to this bar and don’t experience the living legend that is Namanh Nguyen, I recommend going back immediately until the universe...
