My experience is based entirely on the food and service. It may be a really fun place to go for drinks, but I couldn't comment on that.
I chose BSB purely because they had a free table outside and it was a nice day. I ordered the lamb kofte, but the barmaid came back to tell me that they didn't have any. So I chose the Lamb and Mint burger from their 'gourmet burger' selection. The staff were all very friendly and are the reason this review gets 2 stars rather than none at all.
Now, the definition of 'Gourmet' is ":of or characteristic of a gourmet, especially in involving or purporting to involve high-quality or exotic ingredients and skilled preparation:"
What I received was a piece of meat between two piece of bun with 2 bits of lettuce thrown on top. The burger itself was the kind you get in kebab vans. The type of low quality meat you get in wholesale supermarkets at £1 for 10 burgers. It certainly wasn't high quality. The bun was also embarrassingly cheap. Much like the kind you can pick up in Iceland for 50p. This burger did not even come close to being 'gourmet'. It even came with oven chips. I could have popped in Tesco, bought some ingredients and have made a better burger myself for half the price (it cost £6.95) BSB should be embarrassed to pass off food of such low quality as 'gourmet' and even more embarrassed to charge almost £7 for it. It's a £4 burger at best. If they had labelled it as "Cheap No-Frills Burger" and sold it for £4 it would have been absolutely fine.
So, in short, the service was great, but don't bother with...
Read moreWent here for a drink with my brother who is in a wheelchair and we had to sit outside as there is no wheelchair access. His partner (it was his 22nd birthday and he definitely doesn't look under 18) went to the bar to get drinks. The bar person, who had a stinking attitude from the outset, poured the drinks and then asked for ID. Unfortunately, he didn't have ID so was refused the drinks, which is fair, but some manners about it might have been nice. The server then poured the drinks down the drain, including the coke. When my brothers partner asked if he could just buy the coke, he was told there is a £5 minimum on card spend (apprently this place is a corner shop from 2006). I don't know if the owners read this, but if you do; putting a minimum spend on cards, whilst not illegal, is against the core rules set out by Visa (it's on page 109). It is also in terms and conditions for Mastercard that there should not be a minimum or maximum payment set and these companies have been known to cease working with or even fine businesses that do this! I have reported your business to both of these companies via their online form.
If only your server had possessed some basic manners. Really hope this doesn't cause too much of a...
