Not a great meal, service was good.
The restaurant itself is quite cute, romantic however you have to stick to the basics here.
We ordered 4 meals and the Steak Diane, which probably is the wrong meal to order in an Italian, was bland. The sirloin was fatty and extremely flat / thin as though a car had driven over it many times. The meat tasted a little like that too. The diane sauce was like water, and tasteless.
My friend had lamb on a minted mash, the mash wasn't mashed properly, the lamb looked very poor. The vegetables that came where tepid and the potatoes where reheated.
The lasagne was average as was the ravioli however the pasta was cooked well.
Unfortunately the tomato sauce just didn't tick the boxes, not flavoursome enough, the sauce was runny.
Overall there are a lot better Italian restaurants and this unfortunately has to be one of worst independent ones I've been to.
Having said all this, the staff where pleasant, service was good and the atmosphere was lovely, however when I go to a restaurant I want the food to be the main star of the show.
Was it the chef's day off I wonder with all. The positive reviews..... But for us, We all won't be going back.. Sorry. The quality of the ingredients was very...
Read moreI had one hour between my train arriving at Bristol Temple Meads station and before I wanted to leave for the airport. Yelp wasn't showing many results for 'restaurant,' 'pub,' or 'craft beer' near the station but I decided to head for one pub in the hope that they'd have good food. I didn't find it but instead found Marco's Olive Branch on Victoria Street.
This was a lovely find. It was a cute restaurant and I loved the well-used and colourful wine bottle candleholders on each table. The staff said they could make sure my dinner came out quickly, so I was really happy to come in and take refuge from the rain.
I went for the set menu which was really good quality and excellent value. I had the salami crostini to start, which was a huge board of salad, salami, olives, and garlic bread. It was delicious. For my main I had penne with roasted vegetables. They were incredibly generous with the grated Parmesan cheese and the dish was simple, classic, and lovely. I also had a large glass of excellent house red and all of that was £9.95. The staff were nice and this was an excellent find only five minutes' walk from the station and much better quality than anything else closer to the station, and I was in and out in...

Every year we have a weekend trip to Bristol, and Marco's Olive Branch is always a required visit.
Serving an expetional range of delicious Sardinian cuisine, this place caters for pretty much everyone (our family includes a vegetarian, a fussy teenager and another that eats like a horse, and we're all always left more than satisfied!)
As you walk in to Marco's you're immediately presented with a warm and welcoming atmosphere - a corner bar bristling with a superb range of wares to whet your appetite, friendly staff, and smells of food cooking that will instantly get you salivating... Its like walking into a Richard Curtis film!
The quality of food is superb, and great value. During this visit, we had a couple of focaccia breads to start (these are big!), as well as a funghi tartuffo. For mains we had culurgiones gorgonzola & asparagi, malloreddus zafferano e zucchini, tagliatelle bolognese and a Margherita pizza. We had 5 desserts between 4 of us (including tiramisu, cheesecake and an affogato ice cream with Bailey's and espresso). A couple of cocktails (you have to try the tiramisu and Ferrero Rocher) and a bottle of wine.
We would wholeheartedly recommended Marco's Olive Branch. You won't be...
