AD | Bristol’s best restaurants, but with 50% off food? It must be @First Table UK The Granary is one of my favourite restaurants in the city! I love the open kitchen, food cooked over fire and Persian flavours. My personal highlights include: the Bath Blue cheese flatbread with pear and walnut 😍, the roast halloumi and a bavette steak 👌 & they do cracking desserts too. Visited for the third time this week. I’ve now been for, breakfast on my own: Lots of other solo diners so I felt perfectly comfortable, the homemade milk buns are to die for. dinner with friends: love the table in front of the kitchen for a bit of a theatrics, the sourdough breads were insanely good and I was really impressed with the vegan bits I tried (I’m not vegan) to the point I’ve recommended to all vegan friends since. Fried chicken blew my mind. dinner with my husband and daughter: Great they now do a kids menu, not the cheapest (£8 for a main, starters and desserts extra) but seriously good food. She chose the fish tempura which was one of my favourites on the previous visit. We had the £45 for two Tasting Menu with the £20pp wine flight. Husband is very spice sensitive so not great if you are similarly inclined but if you don’t mind a little heat the food was incredible and I couldn’t get over what great value it was. Service is always great, staff friendly but not overbearing and happily to give you more info if you have questions as I usually do. Think the decor is gorgeous. It is as sadly a little quiet on a Weds evening but we dined early (5pm) and it was the night of ‘protest’ so probably not a true reflection. Would love to go on a Saturday eve if we could get a babysitter as the downstairs bar looks fun for drinks afterwards! Highly recommend.

Very impressed. Very professional establishment. Truly special food with great fresh ingredients and quite reasonably priced. Open kitchen very clean, top chefs. Service was fast and efficient. Didn’t like the constant upselling but I get it. Would highly recommend.

Mixed experience. Food was pretty good but some of the portions were tiny, specifically the Asian omelette and the egg skillet (they didn't even come with bread). People who ordered these two dishes were still hungry afterwards. I had a decaf iced americano, which was shockingly weak, looked like dishwater and tasted like, well... water. It was possibly the worst iced coffee I ever had. Service was very slow and they brought our food in dribs and drabs, first for 3 people in our group, then the next 3 and the seventh person got their meal when the first 3 were already finishing theirs. The buckwheat waffle dishes were good. Given that these waffles are already their menu staple, it would be a good idea to offer several sweet iterations of the waffle. My recommendation is to serve them with homemade, unsweetened (single-ingredient) blueberry compote (recipe: simmer fresh or frozen blueberries for 10-15min until you achieve compote/sauce consistency; serve over hot waffles) + some greek yogurt, crème fraiche or Chantilly cream (+ maple syrup on the side). Other waffle serving options should be: homemade Bramley apple sauce + cinnamon +/- syrup; fresh fruit+ yogurt+ maple syrup; bacon + maple syrup; banana + dark chocolate sauce etc. Make a feature of them guys - they are good! The highly promoted milk buns tasted okay, but they were too doughy and claggy inside - something clearly wasn't right (under proven or underbaked maybe - I am no Paul Hollywood, but they weren't done right). I guess they are still finding their mojo, but the place has potential. Except, the food is overpriced for what it is, so that may go against it. I'll come back in a few months to see if they got their...

I would definitely come back! Situated right in the heart of Bristol, the restaurant is easy to find and offers a perfect spot for a relaxing meal. It has such a cozy atmosphere and very nice decoration. The place has a warm and inviting vibe, complemented by soft lounge music playing in the background.

For my meal, I chose the Half Chicken with oregano, garlic, and chili marinade, served with sriracha mayo. The chicken was cooked to perfection—juicy, tender, and bursting with flavor. The marinade had a perfect balance of herbs and spices, giving it a delightful kick, while the sriracha mayo added a creamy, spicy touch.

I also tried the Quinoa Tabbouleh with mango and raisin dressing, which was a fantastic accompaniment. The quinoa was light and fluffy, and the sweet, tangy dressing brought the dish together beautifully. The fresh mango and raisins added a refreshing burst of flavor, making it a delightful mix of sweet and savory.

One of the highlights of Granary is the open kitchen concept. It’s fascinating to watch the chefs in action as they prepare your food with care and precision. It adds a unique touch to the dining experience and makes you appreciate the effort that goes into every dish.

It's a new place, so probably not a lot of people know about it, but hopefully it's...
