We recently held our wedding party at The Ostrich, and we honestly couldn't have asked for a better experience. From start to finish, the team were an absolute dream to work with. We held our wedding party on the stunning terrace overlooking the harbour, and it was nothing short of magical. The setting was absolutely breathtaking — the sunset over the water created the perfect backdrop for our celebration, and the relaxed, nauticle atmosphere made everyone feel instantly at ease. It felt intimate and special while still having plenty of space for our guests to mingle and enjoy the view. Communication with the staff throughout was incredibly easy — they took the time to really listen to our wishes, understand our vision, and made sure every detail was exactly how we imagined it (and better!). They truly went above and beyond in every possible way — from the setup to the service, and everything in between. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and you could genuinely feel how much they cared about making our day special. It wasn’t just professional — it was personal. So many of our guests commented on how perfect the atmosphere was, how friendly the staff were, and how smoothly everything ran. That’s all down to the amazing team. Special thanks to Sophie, Charlie, Kiola and Amelie. It felt like working with friends — relaxed, supportive, and so much fun. We already had a great relationship with this pub, but this experience only deepened our appreciation for what they do. If you're considering a venue for a special celebration, we couldn’t recommend them more. They made our wedding party unforgettable. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We’ll be forever grateful. 💛 — Christopher & Cecile

Fairly poor I'm afraid, booked a table for a late Sunday lunch ie;15:30, the table was available and so we sat waiting for a menu. The website was fairly vague as to whether or not they served a roast on a Sunday. (I actually needed to contact the pub directly earlier in the day to confirm the fact.) The menu's we were offered after being sat for 5 minutes stated no roasts were on offer. After speaking to the waitress we were told there were chicken roasts and a vegan option available. Which is fair enough as we were late in the day to expect all options would be available at 15:30 of an afternoon during a pandemic!! The roast chicken dinners we received (50 minutes after ordering), were quite plentiful if not a little short on gravey, which was sorted by an extra portion on request. By way of an apology for the delay a round of drinks on the house was the remedy, fine by me! We finished our meals and requested the bill, only to notice a service charge had been added to the bill. I asked for the said bill to be amended and was overall pleased with the meal we'd had. However, for an age old boozer that does grub to be requesting a service charge is a bit rich. I'll happily return.

The Ostrich is a beautiful pub right on the Riverside in the outskirts of Bristol town centre. The views it had were lovely and the prices reflected the location that it has. It's an odd concept though as the pub seems to have been taken over by the brewery without them actually doing anything except setting up temporary stalls. All food is ordered via QR code and delivered from a temporary kitchen located outside. I ordered a drink before I sat down at a festival-like food truck that sold the beers whilst the pub inside served all other drinks but again via QR code. The whole experience seemed a little impersonal and felt like the brewery may have taken advantage of the place during COVID and they've yet to revert back. The food itself was medium to expensive (Burger and Chips ~ £19) and was ok. I say ok because it was nice but didn't blow my mind away, for the price you pay you'd be better visiting a Five Guys or Three Brothers further into town, if the burger was your priority.

It could be alright but the male manager had the worst customer service attitude possible and even sounded aggressive at one point. The wine should have been good but all tasted like it had been open too long, possibly cheaper than the price suggests, and when I complained they did not offer to taste or replace with an alternative. They won’t let you drink wine out of glasses in the beer garden, and they closed at 9pm. They kicked us out unapologetically even though they had just sold us a drink that very second, which was one from an order of 4 so we were forced to just leave the drink as we couldn’t make our company stand and wait for one person to drink a full beverage. They served two meals on one tray (with no plates) which I thought was very weird. We asked for sauce for our chips and they did not return, instead sent the manager to confiscate the glasses our drink had been served in, and replace them with plastic pint glasses. We were entertaining our new employer and this was just an embarrassment and gave the staff a Gestapo feel, which is apt as there was huge racism riots happening that day. Walking up the road to the pub around the corner that was open to a normal time, we heard a group of people saying how awful the man was compared to the following pubs management (assuming they meant the aggressive manager) this reassured me that it wasn’t my attitude but they are actually alienating every customer, or at least treating adults like drunken students. The burger and chips tasted nice but it’s not worth over 15 pounds I’m afraid. Especially not with the standard...

A poor showing from the Ostrich. Maybe the staff just weren't having a good day. There were 5 of us, we had booked, and they vaguely gestured us towards a table. When we went to order food, one of the staff gruffly told us "you can't order drinks inside", even though we were eating inside. Unnecessarily blunt. This was a theme for the night. Nobody really seemed that bothered about providing a good service and/or making us feel welcome.

We ordered 3 meat burgers, a plant burger and fish and chips. Instead of the plant burger, we were given a 4th meat burger. No big deal, mistakes happen. However, initially they were not flexible at all replacing it, telling us we'd need to pay for another burger. It would have been courteous to give us the benefit of the doubt and accept they had misheard/just got the order wrong. Eventually, the staff relented, and did give us a replacement plant burger. But this did not come easy.

Another member of staff came with the cutlery and sauces and literally threw the sauces on the table. Not a great way to start!

The food itself was fine, but the value for money wasn't great. The meat burgers (£18.70), for instance: massive plates with a medium-size burger and a fairly small pot of chips. Nothing special. It's a very expensive place for what you get.

Disappointing. The Ostrich has been fairly good in the past, but this didn't...
