Went here today as a part of the Bristol cocktail weekend, I don't usually leave reviews, but today feel it is necessary. The staff were friendly and the cocktail was nice enough, however as a part of the weekend they were offering a steak for a "special" price of £10 each. Looking at the misleading advert, it was a lovely big steak, no sides, just the steak. We decided to go for it. When the steak arrived we were both so shocked at how small it was. The tiniest thin strip of meat, which was also dry. I'm not a complaining miserable type at all, but to charge £10 each piece that took about three minutes to eat is an absolute rip off and a joke. The ladies toilets were a disgrace and need a good clean. So disappointed as every other place we have been to this weekend has been fantastic, so a shame to leave feeling...

Our group of 10 visited The Colosseum for the Bottomless Jazz Brunch on Saturday at midday. The experience included 90 minutes of tapas dishes such as chorizo, patatas bravas, and padron peppers, all delicious. The brunch also included unlimited Aperol Spritz, Prosecco, Sangria, and Pimm’s.

We were seated outside near the brilliant jazz band, who played a range of standards, which created a really lovely atmosphere. The portion sizes were generous, and the staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring our drinks were topped up regularly. The price is reasonable for the amount and quality of food and drink offered.

One point for consideration by management would be improving the acoustics inside the restaurant, as it can get quite harsh on the ears during peak times.

Overall, we had a fantastic time and will definitely...

went to the pub with two service users for a few games of pool as the socialisation is great for their mental health and wellbeing. one service user had bought a drink and we had already paid for the game of pool. rude bar lady told us this isnt a social club and said we all need a drink. the pub was empty apart from us and i explained to her this and how we always used to come here for a few games and we have already paid for the game. the rude bartender said “well i guess you’ll have to finish this game and then leave”. i asked if i also bought a drink (2/3 of us would have a beverage) would we be able to stay for a few games. she said no and then started whispering about us to the other worker. extremely rude disgusting behaviour, will not be going back. old managers...

Popped in for an impromptu drink and snack on the way back to the car yesterday. I never frequented the old pub so nothing to compare for me. It's new owners are still finding their feet but are very attentive and keen for feedback. It was super quiet but I liked the decor with it's reclaimed sports hall floor. The toilets were nicely tiled and very clean. We had the Jubel to drink which was really good and ordered halloumi and veg skewers and some wings. Both were fresh and tasty and the wings had a good spice kick. It is very convenient for our office although not currently open on a weekday lunch, I will definitely hope for a speedy lunchtime drink at lunch in the future though when they open more and the terrace will be nice in summer 🌞

We loved the old colosseum, full of character and lovely people. Initially I was pleased that it was staying open as a venue and 'saved' but the reopening has been a let down. Entering with high hopes to the iconic venue, impressions are that It looks homogeneous, pretentious and lacks character - seems too fussy and geared towards the after work crowd. Maybe this is what has to happen to venues for them to stay open, but if so - big shame. Constructive criticism- should have been kept in the spirit of the last place, at least get a pool table if this is a 'dive bar'! Feels like whoever dreamt it up lacks imagination (like an indie slug and lettuce?) 2 out of 5 because the larger was under a 5er

Best hop to it if you want to visit the cheapest pub in Bristol City Centre. It'll be closing soon as the owners are selling up. No real ale but dart boards and pool tables and 2 pints of Jewel nitrokeg less than £7. Kronenbourg just over £4 a pint. Decor is reminiscent of a Butlins from 1989 but toilets are clean and there's a nice view of the church one side and a bit of the harbour the other. I'll be sad to see the place go. It's a lot cheaper than the hotel next door.
