The Duke Street bakery is near me so I don’t have recent experience of the other branches. Unfortunately the quality of baked goods and of the service has really gone downhill in recent times. I was shocked to pay £4.05 for a takeaway almond croissant. Totally aware of the cost of living crisis, and how everything has gone up in price, but still! I do not mind paying for good quality but this was so dry and disappointing, I couldn’t finish it. And honestly every time I’ve been recently the items have been so disappointing. It’s just a convenient location! I find the fact that they just point the card reader at you with ‘Tip’ request pretty annoying as well. One of my favourite cafes, Fortitude, always tick the 0% for you when it’s takeaway. I think that is a really nice gesture. I hardly ever review, but it feels frustrating when you want to support local but I feel like they are actually having a laugh with their prices at this point. I paid around £6 for 2 gorgeous croissants over the road at the new bakery on Queen...
Read moreI want to love this place but the prices are really high for what they offer. Do they have great pastries? Absolutely. Great sandwiches too. But you can get just as good 10 minutes away for less. Their breads are great and it's hard to find a good selection of fresh bread in the area, so I'll buy them from time to time but for pastries I'll usually go elsewhere. They don't tend to change their offer too much and introduce new breads which is a shame. Coffee is fine. You're asked for a tip on the machine which I don't particularly enjoy when the staff is looking at you as you pay. But overall it's fine. If you're really local and want a place 5min from your house, then Twelve Triangles is a great option if you don't mind...
Read moreGood morning. I recently wrote a review ( on Easter Road site) about your baguettes not reaching your usual high standard. You kindly responded saying there are occasional issues with flour or sourdough quality, and I have to say once the issue was sorted the bread had been great. I have been buying bread; baguette and white sourdough, almost daily for 6 months and it is only recently there has been issues. Again, today I was given a flat dense baguette. Why is you quality control not picking up this issue, and allowing you to sell a products not up to scratch? You know the old adage: it takes a long time to make a reputation etc. I would rather miss out on the baguette for a day or two until the issue is sorted....
