Coffee: Amazing! In particular, really liked the chocolate power in the mocha (way better than most cafes). High quality beans as well. Would be 11/10 if the froth was smoother.
Food: Portions were big. The burrito was really delicious, but it was really difficult to eat (don't order this if you are on a date, you will regret it). The pancake was a bit too starchy, still, really liked the rhubarb compote, maple roasted pecans & cashew sour cream.
Considering most cafes are now charging around £9-£13 per breakfast/brunch, with this very reasonable pricing (both the burrito and pancake were £8), I was really satisfied with the food.
Cake: Can improve the texture. It was a bit dry.
Service: Excellent service.🥰 When was the last time, you went to a cafe in Brighton to order breakfast/brunch, the staff kindly asked what allergies do you have, and double-checked with the kitchen staff, to ensure that your won't have allergic reactions afterwards? Not Redroaster, not Small Batch, not Wolfox, not Trading Post. Not to mention that you can always feel a positive vibe in the shop, as every staff has a big smile on their faces. These tiny little bits makes 17 Grams stands out from its competitors.
Conclusion: Was going to give 17 Grans a 4 star, as the food wasn't perfect, but guess what, the exceptional service changed my mind.
Can easily become one of the best cafes in Brighton with little improvement!...
Read moreI've started taking my laptop here as I work online as a freelancer and I find the plant decor super inspiring, the location very soothing and the staff really friendly. For me it's worth spending that bit extra by ordering something regularly so that I can spend a few hours working in this lovely environment rather than stay home. Today though, after spening £6 on a drink and cake, I sat down and did about 20mn of work when the wi-fi went off. These things happen, but the staff member showed no interest when I brought it up with her. She said I should try to restart my computer, but I told her that it wasn't my laptop that was the problem as their Wi-Fi had simply disappeared from the list, and also it was not working on my phone, and another customer couldn't connect either, to which she responded "Sorry, I don't know how to help you", and walked off. After trying to bring it up with two other staff members who at least showed a little more concern but just told me that there was nothing they could do and that I could try waiting 30mn or an hour, I left having lost all my work (I use online software to work) and having spent money I wouldn't normally have spent. It's such a shame because I really like this place and every other time staff has been amazing, but this has...
Read moreMy wife and I along with our Dachshund Pretzel visited here on Wed 4th August. We both had the most delicious breakfast either of us has had for many a year. Needless to say, the coffee was top notch too. What also made our visit so memorable was the two staff on duty. Both Emily and Josh are two wonderful people who were very friendly and easy to chat with. They both loved our dog and gave him a few nice treats. It's only a small place - I counted 17 spaces for two people each. It is tastefully decorated with music album covers and various posters etc. The atmosphere is laid back and the volume of the music played was just about perfect. Low enough so you could chat comfortably, but just loud enough for you to listen to at the same time. So to sum up: Perfect food, Perfect coffee, Perfect atmosphere, and definitely the Perfect staff in Emily and Josh. Needless to say, we will make 17 grams a must visit every time we come to Brighton. Much love from Dave, Anna...
