I asked the server the most complicated question you've ever heard, "is the garlic sauce a garlic mayonnaise or yoghurt?".

I should've left when the servers eyes glazed over at the kind blowing complicity of my question. Given the entire kitchen staff also heard my question and could weigh in at any moment.

He then eventually nodded his head at the world garlic mayonnaise and repeated back to me in as close to English he could manage the words garlic mayonnaise.

I said, "Great, in that case I'll have a kebab meat and chips (£8.50) and 3 pots of mayonnaise".

The genius decided to test his English knowledge further by muttering something about a salad (seemed a bit of an unnecessary complication given the language barrier). I said "No" to salad.

He then said in very plain English suddenly £11.50. I just paid it because I didn't want any more arguments.

When I got home, guess what I got? Kebab, chips, salad, a pot of chilli sauce and 3 post of garlic YOGHURT.

So along with charging me an extra £3 when I'm pretty sure pots of sauce are 50p, I got an array of things I didn't want as well as some revolting, watery,...

Only gave 1 star because I could give 0. Absolutely appalling! Rang to place an order to collect said it would be 45 minutes. 45 minutes later the delivery person showed up with our food demanding £5 petrol money for our food when we wanted to collect so wouldn't give us it. Rang bodrum to ask how long our order would be to collect and the staff were so rude. Saying I was lying about ringing 45 minutes ago and saying it was only 10 minutes ago when I had proof on my phone it was nearly 50 minutes ago. I said ok so how long will it be she said it will be another 45 minutes. I then explained that over an hour and half to collect our food. She then said well you can come sit and wait until it's ready there's 20 orders to do before ours. I said I wasn't going to sit there and wait that long can they ring us when it's ready like they said they would before which they never did and she then shouted "no I'll just cancel your order then bye" and hung up. DO NOT GO HERE!! they don't deserve your money when they speak to you like that! Will never go here...

Doesn't deserve any stars at all, but it caters to the drunk. If 0 was a score it would be very deserving. Went there a few days ago and the food was so greasy but dry and the same time, it was unedible. Seeing the other reviews on here confirms everything. I wasn't going to say anything, I was just going to avoid this place in future, but as I'm a local and I got horrible abuse/ harassment from a disgusting "man" standing in the doorway on a different occasion (open door closed shop, he definitely worked or owned here), this review is more than deserved. When this place is quite well known across York for the appalling hygiene standards I would suggest you learn some manners.. no wonder locals down Bootham don't go here. Plenty of nicer takeaways in York. Will be warning as many...
