I’ve never waited so long for a food delivery. This place is just around the corner from me yet they took almost two hours from ordering to delivery. They made three separate Deliveroo drivers wait for a single order which is downright disrespectful - they already have a tough job!
When it eventually arrived the food was average. The drinks had clearly been sat around for ages and looked rather sad.
The so-called juices were barely drinkable. They had left all the pulp from the fruit in the cup and there was basically no liquid in it, so the entire thing was like a big solid mass of pulp that couldn’t be consumed with a straw.
Considering this place seems to put waffles with every meal they can’t make one to save their lives. It was the worst waffle I’ve ever had. It was chewy and gritty and didn’t taste anywhere close to fresh.
Edit: I appreciate the professional response from Bar Hashery. I was led to believe that it was entirely the restaurant’s fault for the delay. But on reflection perhaps Deliveroo are somewhat to blame. I have updated my review score as it didn’t seem fair without knowing all the details of what went on...
Read moreI can confidently say that (taste wise) lots of places in York don’t correspond to the quality of the food. This one is one of them. It was impossible to finish the food. It’s “Turkish eggs” with a very strong garlic influence on yogurt (totally not pleasurable to eat). The waffles were sweet, salty and with a strong baking soda taste. All in all the chef does not have a clue how to balance the simplest dishes. What a shame.16£ for a meal you feel bad afterwards.
P.s an update to the response to my comment. Well I’ll better attach the receipt. Turkish eggs 13£ + one more portion of waffles (3£). I think people should at least get a basic food satisfaction paying for such a simple dish, unfortunately it was really, really not good. I am curious what would have happened if I told the manager it’s not good. I really highly doubt they would change the whole dish and recipe on the spot. The fact is still a fact- it was not good food to eat! Sorry and I rarely...
Read moreJust got charged 80p extra for alt-milk. Disgraceful profiteering from environmentalists and the lactose intolerant. Cake was mediocre.
Edit in response to the response from the business and their figures: The costs for gas, electricity, barista etc have to made out of profit, I understand that. But why profit more from the lactose intolerant and environmentalists? Let's work with the 4 cups per litre - let's view your figures, each normal milk latte costs 25p in milk. Each alt-milk latte costs 47.5p in alt milk. If you charged 22.5p more, I would understand! I would even understand 25p or 30p more! But you charge 80p more! Profiting 57.5p more per latte from lactose intolerant and environmentalists...
