Had I not checked on Google Maps, I'd have never even known this place was here. But after walking from Troutbeck to Ambleside, my mum and I had a look around a few shops, then decided to find somewhere that had gluten-free options. After browsing over a couple, we decided on the Copper Pot. When we arrived, we noticed a couple queueing for a table, which must be a good sign! It wasn't long at all, before we were seated and taking in our surroundings. The place is super cosy with the slate interior wall, the lighting, the music and general atmosphere, all which made for an amazing experience.

There was a fab selection of cakes available, including chocolate stout cake, coconut, carrot and pineapple cake, a peanut butter cake and a few others, along with some gluten free options including courgette and avocado cake and orange and almond cake, both which looked amazing! The drinks we had were awesome, especially my hot chocolate whereby I could choose my preferred cocoa strength. My mum decided on the courgette and avocado cake (don't know it until you try it), while I chose the coconut, carrot and pineapple cake. Quite a combination of flavours, but they worked very well! I could certainly taste the coconut, along with hints of pineapple. Super moist and delicious from the first bite, right to the very last! I also loved the cutlery we got, which were spades as spoons!

Altogether, this came to a little over £16 which I think is fantastic value for money. The service was also great, and the young lady who served us was very pleasant from start to finish. We will, without a doubt, certainly be coming back here when we next visit Ambleside. Well...

Would normally have given 5 stars but unfortunately our experience yesterday only warrants 1 star. After being seated and our order and payment being taken promptly it took another 20 minutes for someone else to come and ask if we had had our order taken, she then assured us it wouldn’t be long. 5 minutes later our drinks came, another 10 minutes rolled by before our cutlery came, both times we were told our food was on its way. After another 10 minutes having finished our drinks and still no sign of food ( we only wanted 2 cooked breakfasts!)my husband waved someone over ( apparently the owner)and told them we’d been waiting 45 minutes for our food, she said sorry she would go and see where it was but at that point we were fed up and running out of time so we asked for a refund. During this whole time Matthew who had initially taken our order and payment had not been back to our table to see if we were ok or apologise for the wait/lost order, in fact he didn’t even make eye contact with us. To be honest the excuses we got with the refund were lame and we were still charged for one of the drinks so not much in the way...

Delicious breakfast and excellent coffee! Stopping through Ambleside on our way to Penrith after some hiking and couldn't recommend Copper Pot enough! Suitable for the coffee snobs, a range of vegetarian, dairy free and gluten free options with plenty of delicious cakes. Reasonably priced. Very friendly and helpful staff, we were made to feel very welcome immediately. Even though the menu states "We don't have a build your own menu option" staff were very happy to swap bread around, remove items, offer additional sauces etc. Plenty of dogs inside and out, we would definitely recommend (especially for anyone missing their dose of a Melbourne-like cafe) !

*One thing I would advise is arriving early on the weekend if you don't have a booking. We walked in as a group of two and were seated straight away but literally the last table free, 5 minutes after opening. Food service was quick though so people after us weren't waiting too long...

I rarely give a 5 star review but please understand this. Walking into this cosy lil unicorn of a place, you're greated by a very friendly face. You look up to the stone wall, you see a magical light that says, "this is our happy place". You instantly feel a part of it. The staff have chemistry, from the til op to the service and the kitchen staff. Their chemistry works, you can see it in the quality of the food. You get the feeling they all want to be there, and they all want to bring out quality upon quality. We ordered a vegetarian option and boi, no grease on the food. By far the cleanest vegetarian food we have ever tasted. And one more positive, the price isn't Michelin Star but the food is heading that way. Excellent work guys. We will bring the kids here, definitely.
