"You can't expect everything to arrive warm."
Ordered a delivery through Just Eat at 8.20pm (paying cash on arrival) and the app said it would be delivered at 9.15pm. Having ordered from here before, and memories of waiting an hour and a half for food, we gathered that it might be slightly late. We received a message from Just Eat that told us that the delivery time had changed from 9.15pm to 9.35pm which was fine. Around 9.30pm we recieved a text from Just Eat to say that the food was on its way. We live around a 15 minute drive from Eastern Paradise.
The food didn't arrive until 10.15pm and the driver didn't apologise and he stank of cigarettes. He couldn't even read how much we owed as he forgot his glasses. I took the takeaway bag into the kitchen and on opening, saw that the chicken tikka masala had leaked all over the inside of the bag. Before I could get out to the delivery driver, he'd already left at some speed. On closer inspection, the bag with the chips had a large hole in it which meant that the chips were stone cold and rock solid, along with: tikka everywhere, undercooked naan breads and onion bhajis burnt to a crisp. Our order was just: 1 chicken tikka masala, 2 onion bhajis, 2 garlic naan breads and a portion of chips - so not exactly loads of food and you'd think that they could've manage to cook it properly.
I rang the restaurant/takeaway and explained how disappointed I was with the food, that I won't be eating any of it, and that I wanted a refund. The man who answered the phone said "we don't do refunds, but I can offer you a redelivery tonight or next time you order I'll give you some money off." I told him that there was no way I was waiting another 2 hours for a redelivery tonight and that to be honest I won't be ordering another takeaway from them. The way he spoke to me on the phone was completely rude and his responses were ridiculous. In response to the food being cold he said "you can't expect everything to arrive warm." He also went on to say that this was "All Just Eat's fault." I asked to speak to the manager and it turned out that it was the manager that I was speaking to. I told him that I would be sharing my experience with others and he just said "do what you want." I told him that I could bring the food back to the restaurant and get my cash refund, but he told me "you wont be getting a refund if you do that." As I wasn't getting anywhere, I ended the call.
My housemate phoned the restaurant 5 minutes later to, again, ask for a refund. When she mentioned about the delivery driver being unapologetic and stinking of cigarettes, the manager just said "and?" The manager was then shouting at her down the phone and then he hung up.
Totally unprofessional manager, inedible food and the slowest delivery time I've ever known - never ordering...
Read moreHorrendous, distressing etc. Well where do I begin.. I began my traumatic quest by ringing this Indian Takeaway at precisely 6.18pm, I was told my food would take 50 minutes to arrive.. oh boy was I wrong! After an hour of waiting I decided to give them a ring, I was told my Indian had set of, after another 40 mins of waiting I decided to ring again and they told me it had just left, I had been fed so many lies I almost didn't have any room for my desi khana. 18 calls and a lot of stress later my food finally arrived exactly 2 hours and 10 minutes after I rang the pillocks. I must say I had read some reviews (Aprox an hour and a half into the wait) I couldn't believe what I'd let myself in for. You folks have hit the nail on the head with the snail like speed of service. As the delivery man approached the door I confronted him on the horrendous service and I must say this bloke didn't look like he had a clue what planet he was on let alone how long he had took to deliver me spicy desi. The driver denied any responsibility. If this wasn't enough I found a lamb bone in my food which proceeded to almost snap my tooth. I am sorry to say I would not recommend this takeaway to a friend nor return again and for those thinking of ignoring this review and ordering anayway let me tell you again it is not worth it you are better of raising your own lamb skinning it to the bone and boiling your own curry up it will be less time consuming. This has by far been the worst experience of my life. Tandoori...
Read moreOn Sunday 28th August, my wife and I dined at the Eastern Paradise in Scarborough, attracted by the sign in the street stating clearly, and without conditions, that the cost of food on a Sunday, when dining in and paying by cash, was half price. The food was good and the overall dining experience was pleasant. However, we were surprised and disappointed to be presented with a full price bill. When I queried this, the member of staff (possibly the manager) said the half price offer only applied if the table was booked in advance. On leaving, we looked carefully at the notice in the street - there was no mention of the requirement to book. I went to the restaurant the following day and politely drew attention to this misrepresentation - the member of staff expressed concern, asked where we had sat and how much we paid, and he said the manager would call me the next day. He also found the bill - it was indeed the bill we had been given and had paid (in cash) but it turned out to have been the wrong bill, not corresponding to the food we had. There was no subsequent call from a manager. I phoned on the Wed, and was again told the manager would call. There has been no call, and it has now been 5 days. It is unlikely we will visit this restaurant again - and I may pursue the matter under the trade...
