The Edge is well placed, being directly in your line of sight as you cross the Town Bridge into Weymouth. With a deceptively large amount of seating both inside and out, The Edge manages to keep a friendly and relaxed atmosphere while still serving customers at a good pace. The entrance is completely flat, making it easy to access and manoeuvre a wheelchair or pushchair. With large windows all around, there is plenty of natural light, and whether you choose to sit inside or out, you can watch the passing people or, if you time it right, catch the Town Bridge being lifted to allow boats to pass into the inner harbour. My wife had been to The Edge before, but this was my first visit. We had brunch; the King George breakfast for myself, and the Chef's Speciality Edge Royale for the wife. Her choice looked very appetising, but mine was amazing. I've had 'full English' breakfast in a host of places, from greasy-spoon type cafés, to some of the best cruise lines, and I can honestly say this had to be the tastiest and best cooked platter I've had anywhere. Even my dog refused to eat his own and my sausage and shes nicknamed Dyson. She'll eat anything. My egg was round with a brown bottom and brown crispy edge. The film over the yolk was hard, I used my fork to pierce it and was able to lift the whole egg from the plate. It was rubbery and inedible. I ordered a slice of toast expecting it to arrive on a side plate which a couple of pats of butter. I prefer my toast dry however. Not only did it arrived buttered (only in the middle thankfully. I ate around the edge) but it had been put on the mushrooms and was was...
Read moreA family run business. I would recommend the mushroom and spinach Benedict which is served on a bed of Bubble and Squeak. The staff are very friendly and helpful. If you sit inside it is table service, if you sit outside you order at the counter and in both cases you pay at the counter. I shall definitely be returning! Please note they are closed Sundays and Mondays. Update: Today I had Bubble & Squeak, bacon, poached eggs and cherry tomatoes. It was just as good as the mushroom and spinach Benedict I had on my last visit. Definitely one of my two favourite cafés...
