Stayed here a few weeks back, was visiting for a family members birthday party. Mixed place, the room we stayed in was a twin, the room overall was pleasant, clean and beds were surprisingly comfortable. However learning that some of the others rooms are not to the same standard so make sure you aren't one of the unlucky ones. As far as the pricing goes it's excellent value for money in comparison to other accommodation within the City and don't forget your situated right in the Centre of York.
I would advise against drinking in the downstairs Pub, the drink are very poor, larger is horrendous with little choice overall, the TV's have Sport but the picture quality is extremely low.
Overall I'd say this place is value for money and if you're on a budget you probably won't find a cheaper place for it's quality. Of course the pub could be better but if you're visiting York you definitely have more luxury options within the town...
Read moreNice pub to sit in and eat with friends. I haven't tasted all the food, but I can say the lasagne is very good! More interesting than most pubs' lasagnes, always slightly different and more than just mince in a bolognese sauce, hence why I go for it every time. Sometimes has mushrooms, sometimes a few peas, bits of this and that in addition to the mince. Just like home-cooked, like your parents using up the leftover veg. My friends seem to enjoy the fish and chips and others go for burgers, but they all seem pleased....
Read moreTraditional pub mixed with sports pub. I didn't understand the decor but that's not why you go to a pub like this! Not a lot of choice of lager but had a couple Whitley Neil gins and the standard spirits.
Lots of space in a 2 room pub with a pool table, darts board and a couple of TVs. Also has parking and looks nice from the outside but less so from the inside. I wouldn't return but it's worth a visit if you're in the area....
