Our first visit here last night with my husband and what a delight. We only live down the road but haven't been before as we have a favourite curry house elsewhere that we have visited for 15 years or more, but we've been let down there recently and decided to try somewhere new. The staff here were really friendly, we could see that lots of the customers were regulars and treated like family (hugging the staff as they entered and chatting like old friends). The food and menu was quite typical of what you would expect and all of a high quality, hot, delicious and fresh. They had an alcohol free beer too, which I always appreciate as there are still some places that don't have them on the menu. The place itself is really cosy, nicely decorated and clean and also really lovely and warm. I sometimes find places to be cold lately, as heating costs are so high and places are trying to save money, but this place was genuinely really comfortable and warm. All of this at a really reasonable price too. We will be your newest regulars I think as we thoroughly enjoyed our first...
Read moreOrdered the tandoori butter chicken but was shocked when the food arrived. Received a bowl of shredded chicken in a tasteless beige cream sauce. The chicken was not cooked in a tandoori oven and certainly was not "tandoori" as stated on the menu. I am a Sardar and I eat and cook my own panjabi food at home, and having grown up in a panjabi house I should know what a butter chicken dish should look and taste like. I complained to the staff but was told that this is what the dish should be like and it varies from chef to chef. I was patronised by the staff and not offered any alternative dish and left the restaurant with an empty stomach. Accompanying individuals in our party took their food as a takeout as it was late and everyone was hungry. I will not return to this restaurant and if anyone is looking for authentic Indian food, do...
Read moreA short walk from our hotel. We both love Indian food and I make my own at home so off we went. Now - I appreciate that my fav Indian meal will be different in every restaurant. So have an open mind and expect variation. Pleasant decor, tables not too tight together. Poppadom to start - the dips had some substance to them, not watery as at some place. All good. We had lamb madras each. One portion of rice and one Nan. Its plenty for us. The Madras was, as expected, hot and spicy, the amount of lamb generous and 'melt in the mouth' - beautifully tender. And we had a cooling dessert. We had drinks too - and the bill represented really good value. Service - couldn't fault it. Staff were welcoming and friendly. It was also a joy to see 6-7 children also enjoying a...
