Good Companions — Restaurant in England

I used to frequently pop in here for the 241 burgers on selected days, some nibbles or just a cheeky drink. Its just your average pub but with lots of seating inside and out - in the summer this place gets lots of sun and a pleasure to sit in the beer garden.

The reason for 3 stars is that although the staff are very friendly, they are also very slow.. I've been ignored for a while on a few occasions even when they are not busy, just so they can finish a conversation between themselves.

The food also used to be great but a change of franchise in the kitchen has meant it's now pretty mediocre and contains a lot of fried dishes, which is a shame.

In addition, this used to be a place I'd visit frequently with colleagues for birthdays, promotions, leaving do's etc. But it's just felt more and more unclean as time has gone on, it feels a quite dirty which you don't expect from a pub these days, the smell from the men's toilets gets stronger every visit and the floor is often sticky even on a Tuesday afternoon. The decor is very tired and needs a good revamp!

A plus side is they offer a Seven Dials Workers discount which gets you money off selected drinks if you work...

From a place of love - please sort your kitchen out. Me and my girlfriend and got the whole family for Sunday roast here today after years of confidently saying this is the best roast in Brighton, sadly the new chef could not cope, lack of communication between kitchen and front of house made for such awkward conversations with the waitress having to say that there was no beef or pork left (at 3pm), utterly not her fault but felt so awful for her. We bought drinks thinking it would come soon, there was no sign of food, with kitchen staff running around the pub looking at outstanding tickets. We asked for a refund after 2 hours of waiting and went somewhere else, really is so sad as good companions was truly our favourite pub food spot in Brighton :( sorry to the front of house staff who probably had an awful shift today - you guys did well! Kitchen, please sort it out. P.s pub owners / management, you guys are wet wipes for not being there to support your staff, you knew there were new kitchen staff, sort it out and put your big boy pants on and face the music next week, don’t make your team...

Don't know what attracted me to this pub with so many others on offer, but I'm delighted that we chose it! From the menu it would appear that Mac dishes and Burgers are their forte, so that was what my wife and I went for. My wife had the Mac with crumb top, and I chose the American burger. Just to make things interesting I ordered an extra side of fries and a green side salad as well. We enjoyed pale ale as we waited for service which wasn't over-long considering how busy they were. We've eaten.in many good pubs and restaurants in Brighton so competition is tough but this was exceptional!

My wife's Mac was great, helped down.by one of the most simple but freshest green salads we've had. If I could achieve this standard on a regular basis at home Id be delighted. The fries were dry, crisp and plentiful. My burger was a welcome mix of flavours that I thoroughly enjoyed Solved the problem.of where we"ll eat tomorrow evening.
