I am shocked and quite simply offended by their pathetic compensation offer of £10.
I paid for a superior hotel room but instead I got a study room which was basically no different from student accommodation or a dormitory.
I paid for a hotel room and got a study room. I'm not a student. I came with my husband and it was ridiculous to share a kitchen with random kids who blasted music from their laptops, just so we could make a cup of tea.
From this point, we couldn't even make a tea or a coffee because there was zero equipment there. Like I said, it was basically a student dormitory. We needed to bring our own cups and tea and milk and sugar. This was extremely frustrating as me and my husband both suffer from asthma and we always need a hot drink and to vapour every night. We couldn't do that and we suffered all night.
The room we had stank of bleach so heavily it triggered our asthma. We couldn't sleep all night as we had to leave the window open to take the smell of the bleach go out the room. My husband was struggling to breathe and was very wheezy. It was so cold due to having to open the windows to let the smell out. It was a horrible night.
I paid for a superior room where I expected a TV, coffee tea and a kettle. If you had changed my room then why wasn't I informed? Why wasn't I given options? What kind of a business is this that takes peoples money and doesn't give a damn about the customer? A good company would inform their customers of the changes and ask if that was OK! I would never accept a dormitory room for that price I paid. I could have gone to jury's inn hotel for the same price without an issue if I had known I'd be stuck in a uni type room.
We even had to wait for vegetarian food at the breakfast and the options were so minimal.
I am outraged and their offer is like a slap in the face and totally unacceptable. It was the worst stay in our life and we left the place extremely sleepy and hungry. Why did I spend my £100?? I would have rather slept in my car!!
I expect a full refund because nothing was good...

First of all, value for money. I visited Brighton for a conference, and it was quite challenging to find a place close to the conference centre for less than £100 per night. This place was it - I paid £397 for 5 nights, breakfast included! An amazing deal!
Second of all, the rooms were clean, I had enough towels, there was a kettle with some coffee (appreciate the decaf option) with creamers. Just to compare: 3-star hotels in Europe sometimes donāt even offer cups/glasses in the room, not to mention a kettle.
Another thing - the Wi-Fi is really good - I was streaming videos from my iPad with zero issues. Usually hotel Wi-Fis are nominal. Not this one.
Also, itās quite central, itāll take you around 5 mins to go to the beach, lots of restaurants around, I had all my 5 dinners in the same street š thereās also Sainsburyās, McDonalds nearby.
When I was checking in I complete forgot breakfast was included, and itās arguably one of the best breakfast choices Iāve ever had- full English breakfast, fresh and hot, other fancy choices like croissants, crumpets, juices (normal ones, not watered down). The breakfast alone deserves 5 star reviews. They even clean and disinfect the table after every guest.
Iām a light sleeper, and Iām usually fussy in hotels, especially the first night in the unfamiliar bed. Here I slept rather well. But do take your earplugs, theyāll help.
Staff is friendly and helpful - checkin, and checkout took seconds.
A couple of comments, though:
All in all,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreYou know, it was clean, the bed was comfy, the breakfast was buffet style, varied and tasty. But there was security on the door and the door was always locked so you couldn't just pop in and out, or at least I felt we couldn't. We had to be buzzed in every time. The receptionists were more annoyed with us than anything when we checked in, like we disturbed them from whatever they were doing on their computer. There was no one in the lobby and the place was unbelievably quiet for a city centre hotel. The hotel room was definitely designed by a man, no feminine features, no curtains, no kettle, only a coffee machine with pods, and not enough mirrors, I mean no mirror near any plug outlet so I dried my hair at the door while the nearest mirror was on the far wall. My husband also has a cpap machine and there were no plugs on his side of the bed for this, we had to run the cable behind the pillows, and no plugs for our phones at the bedside. The shower was hot when you got in but turned freezing cold a few times while I was showering. The first morning the breakfast room was empty, this room is literally a room with basic chairs and tables. The toaster and yogurts etc were against a wall on the same tables. I'm commenting on this because it was just so basic, no niceties in it at all. There was a wide selection of teas, green tea, Earl Grey, etc, but no regular breakfast tea, and none in the room so I was gumming for an ordinary cup of tea and asked the girl, have you got any regular tea, and I swear, because this has stayed with me, she pursed her lips and said, hmm, the jar at the front with the tongs, and then gave this told-you-so grimace when I spotted it. It was such a rude thing. Everyone working there has an attitude. Except the housekeeping staff, they would smile and say good morning, lovely to see you, have a lovely day. So look, I won't be...
