IVery nice atmosphere in this cafe. Individual tables and long sharing table. Good selection of hot drinks, pastries and cakes. The toasted banana bread is delicious! You can also buy very nice bread, I recommend the walnut and rye (I think?) bread! The one thing I did not like was their espresso coffee as it is usually very fruity and acidic. However, they do offer filter coffee, which does not bring out so much acidity and is a very good alternative to any long black or americano. They have actual WiFi (not those open ones that require emails and registrations) and are computer and dog friendly as well!

The Flour Pot Bakery First Avenue is a great place to go for a delicious pastry and a friendly cup of coffee. The staff are always welcoming and helpful, and they really know their stuff when it comes to pastries. I've tried a few different things on the menu, and everything I've had has been amazing. The croissants are flaky and buttery, the muffins are moist and flavorful, and the cakes are decadent and delicious. I especially love the Flour Pot's selection of vegan. They have a great selection of options for everyone, and they're always accommodating to dietary restrictions.

What a fantastic coffee shop. Great atmosphere from 7am and the obvious regulars coming in for their usuals , reassures me that I have hit the jackpot of coffee shops for my trip to Hove. The pastries were so tempting - I went for a delicious croissant- fresh, straight from their bakery. The staff were all happy, friendly and professional- they all very much loved their jobs and working with each other. I will definitely be returning on my next trip to Hove.

My partner and I arrived just after lunch. Several tables were dirty with cups and plates but we decided to stay and try it as we heard so much about this place. We wanted to order something savoury and a drink but there wasn't much left on the display. When I asked the man behind the bar he had a bit of bad attitude and just pointed out that what we could see was all that was left. No apology or suggestiins were made and it was only 3pm on Monday? Anyway, we ordered a couple of croque monsieur, teas and a slice of cake to share. He said he would bring it over to the table. We sat down and the table was full of dirty plates , hoping for someone to come and clean it but no one did. A few minutes later, the food arrived and the waitress put the food down on our dirty table along with the dirty cups and plates. When I politely asked her to clean up first , she replied agressively that that was exactly what she was going to do. So the waitress set down the plates on the table as it was and then took the dirty plates off the table, spilling a drink. No apology and again bad attitude she quickly cleaned up the mess and left. The mushroom croque was hard and cold, not what I expected but I was afraid to ask in case I got another scene from the staff so we ate the food and left. I understand this is a coffee shop , on a 'self service' arrangement but with premium prices and such great locations it's a real shame it's let down by the service. It's a 1...

This was my first visit to the flour pot, and to be honest, it will probably be my last :

I ordered a baguette and a coffee to dine in. Although the quality of the baguette was excellent, it was served in a brown paper bag. The tables obviously hadn’t been cleaned, and there was spilt food around the base of the table. The service was extremely slow and my extra hot cappuccino arrived lukewarm and would have been served in a paper cup had I not insisted on a proper cup? I had to ask the server for sugar which he should’ve noticed was missing when he brought me my coffee!

Finally, a visit to the toilet after my brunch was an eye-opener. The toilet was dirty and there were at least half a dozen empty toilet rolls lying around.

My conclusion is the quality of the food is up to standard, but the quality of the staff and cleanliness of the premises...

Flour pot in hove used to be my favourite cafe in Brighton but I came back today and was so disappointed to find the cafe itself was pretty filthy , the floor was so dirty and covered in spillages, dog hair and general grime. Tables all sticky and seated cushions looking rather worse for wear. Pillows could also do with a good clean. I did have a yummy cookie though that recipe hasn't changed for the last 3 years i’ve been here, nice to see a bit of evolution in the offerings. It was a shame to find my hot chocolate clearly made of instant hot chocolate powder which made for a rather luke warm...
