Key West appears to gone south in terms of customer service. The student staff were inattentive, appeared untrained in customer expectations, but came across as friendly for the moments when they were customer facing. As a working unit, what the staff in attendance seemed to have lacked, was anyone experienced who could motivate or guide them when things arenāt going to plan.
For a cafe built on a pier, it seems woefully out of its depth. Noting the āTable service onlyā sign, we looked at the cake selection, made a note of what we wanted (a scone cream tea, and one of the 4 slices of chocolate orange cake. We then found seats, checked the menus (just in case) and after a few minutes, dutifully turned the laminated green/red square around, green side up as we were ready to order.
Over 15 minutes elapsed, before our order was taken. We gave our order, paid, but 10 minutes later the student waiter returned to say theyāre out of choc orange cake (well maybe if theyād taken our order quicker, thereād have been some left). My wife went back to the counter to see what was still in stock and chose a poor second choice.
A further few minutes drifted past and both medium-warm drinks arrived, and my wifeās cake. No sign of my cream tea, no mention of it from the delivering waitress either. We managed to catch the waitresses attention a few minutes later and enquiried after the absent cream tea. āItāll be here in a few minutesā was the reply given without a pause in her walking past stride.
The cream tea did turn up a few minutes later, just one microwave re-heated scone, a pot of cream and⦠a passing āsorry, no jamā comment, again, made by the student waitress as they were already moving away. Ā£8 for one scone, no jam, Luke warm drink and lack-lustre service??? Dreadful.
A domed cafe with a doomed customer experience. We have visited this place many times but todays experience has put an end to that. Terrible - my sincere pity to those booked into this āvenueā for the advertised Christmas parties, given the level of service experienced today for just two drinks, one slice of cake and parts of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf I could give zero stars I would. The price of drinks has been going up for a while but normally the service isn't too bad so we go there during the air festival for a nice view of the planes.
We visited today (18th April) just for some drinks. When we walked in we were told it was table service only, we sat down and there was this antiquated red and green card system. We turned our card to green to signal to the waiting staff we were ready to order. We waited for 30 minutes before someone even came over to us to take our order. Then it took 15 minutes for our drinks to arrive - two pints and one appeltize.
When I mentioned this to the waitress she didn't offer an apology and just said they were short staffed. Other than the lack of an apology I have a few problems with this explanation. One, there were 10 waiting staff that we could see and the restaurant was not even a third full. I'd like to know how many staff the management would consider not short staffed, 15/20? Second, if they were so short staffed do away with the card system and let people order their drinks instead it would save the waiting staff having to find the tables where people need to order. drinks. Thirdly I've seen lots of reviews (even a year ago where people have waited 30 minutes/an hour for food or drinks so this is not new news to the management yet they don't seem to have done anything about it.
Later today we went to Weatherspoon, our drinks arrived in a few minutes and our food very promptly and was hot and tasty. So if whetherspoon can do it why...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTravelled to Bournemouth from London today (8.9.21), was greeted by a nice young man who advised us that there was a delay on the delivery of the food and drinks. He told us we could sit anywhere, that it was table service only, and when we were ready to order turn the red to green. We sat inside, looked at the menu to see what we wanted, changed the red to green and waited for some one to take our order. We waited for over 20 mins and still no one came to take our order. There was a young lady taking orders inside, but she seemed to only be taking orders from the tables on the opposite side to where we were sitting. She came over to the side where we were sitting to get a high chair for a table that she had just taken an order for. I asked her if we could place our order as we had been waiting for over 20 mins to place it. She said she was serving the other side, so I asked who was serving our side, to which she said that she was the only person working inside and was busy. The tone she used was not really what I would expect from serving staff, if she was so busy why did the manager on duty not allocate someone else to help her take the orders. Due to her attitude, and the fact that she just carried on only taking orders from the opposite side to where we were sitting, we decided to leave and go to eat elsewhere. We have eaten here before and the service and food was really good, which is why we decided to return today to eat there. However we would now think twice about eating here following our...
