Didn't want to leave a bad review but our experience was so poor. It took over 20 mins and a reminder to the staff for us to have our order taken. It then took over an hour for two sandwiches and some chips. Other tables who came in after us and having full fry ups got their food before us (it did take a long time for their food in fairness) We asked for an update after an hour and were told it would be another 5 minutes... 15 minutes later and it came. The table next to us were also kept waiting but were kept updated on their order and apologised to for the wait. We were just ignored. Went to pay and were just handed the card machine with the tip already added and I had to embarrassingly say it didn't seem reasonable to ask for a tip. We were told the kitchen is small and food does take some time. Might be worth telling people this on arrival as we wouldn't have stayed or even just keep us updated during the meal and apologise. Over an hour for two sandwiches seems insane. Not only no compensation but expecting a tip was disappointing. Added a picture of what we received

Came for brunch with 2 other friends. We had to wait for a while because we didn't have a booking, but it was Sunday so we expected it. The place was packed, we got a veggie breakfast, eggs royale and an halloumi sandwich with chips. Everything was good and the portions big. Wasn't particularly blown away by something specific - the falafel was good but you only get one with the veggie breakfast which is a shame. My friend said the salmon on the eggs royale was very fresh. The staff was polite and efficient, they ended up taking away our plates when we were still finishing the chips and we had nowhere to put the ketchup, but they were running non stop so we didn't take it badly, although we did say we wanted to keep our plate. The restaurant was a bit noisy. I wouldn't mind going back, but if I had a choice I would look for something more exciting probably!

Went there for breakfast on our last day in Brighton, was looking for a place that serves Eggs Benedict and this place had the highest rating. I didn't enjoy the food as much as I'd liked to but that's because of my personal preference. I like the original recepi for Eggs Benedict, with the ham slice; the one that I had here was more like pulled pork or something like that and it was weirdly sweet. Also had, what they said is "freshly squeezed orange juice" but it wasn't and it was really source, tasted like it had lemons in it...Again a personal preference. I'm giving it a 5 star because the place was clean, staff was lovely, we were greeted with a smile and the coffee was great. Also very affordable!

The best burger in town… perhaps anywhere!

Apart from this place doing the most delicious all-day breakfasts in Brighton. They also do dishes beyond the brunch realm for which they are infamous.

I am a frequent visitor (simply because, they are the best in town… bar none, at everything… it would seem.

I have been slowly working my way through the menu and the other day I had their absolutely fantastic burger, which comes with mouth-wateringly delicious, homemade, red onion marmalade… OMG!!! Mind blowing (… & lot’s of other colourful adjectives) does not do the experience justice. Please, just try it for yourself… you’ll totally not regret it and for sure, you’ll agree with me.

I’ve been all over the world (several times). I’ve lived and travelled extensively in the states. However, I can honestly say, hand on heart… Kooks burger is by far and away, the best burger I’ve evert tasted.

Kooks in general, is the perfect stop, while in the centre of Brighton. The warm, friendly and attentive staff, are a very pleasant and welcome change from the all too depressing norm.

The menu is extensive, for both food and drink and their background music selection is inspired.

Everything about this place, from their gigantic, fairytale appearance, window cakes. To their exceptionally addictive Expresso Martinis… screams attention to detail.

The most pleasant part by far, is if you’re lucky enough to grab a minute or two, to talk with the owner, Rebecca (as the place is always so busy). A wonderful Aussie, who has made it her mission to bring a memorable eating experience, to the very lucky people and visitors of Brighton.

*Kooks have plans to open the evenings soon… lucky...

We had an hour for our lunch. We got seated quicklyish, though there is a sign ‚wait to be seated’ it seemed to be a bother for the waiters to actually do that. After waiting for the waiter who seated us to bring menus and take our order, my partner went to the bar to ask if its table service and then again wait for someone to actually come and take out order. Once ordered we were not told there is a considerable wait for the food. 5mins later the waitress came over to say what I have picked from the menu is not served anymore (?)I’ve chosen sth else and our wait began. Our drinks came and other peoples food came and we kept waiting. Tbh could see other customers treated the same taking ages to take orders, deliver them and even bring the bill and it wasn't that busy! Could see waiters chatting around and what not. 50min later our food arrives. I had HLT which was nothing special, i wish i have been asked my preference for the bread. My partner had chicken burger- it was cold and somewhat burned, we had side of chips, ordered large came small. We had to eat fast as were running late by this point. Finished food, when straight to the counter to pay to make it faster, the waiter there wanted someone else to deal with our payment and we had to say we are late can we just please pay. And now the cherry on top, the bill was £47 seemed steep but as we were late we paid and left only to realise later that we must have paid for the salad i didn't have and then my second option added on top. Anyway mediocre food, very poor service and ended up being quite pricey. Defo do...

Disappointing Dining Experience I recently had a thoroughly unimpressive experience at a restaurant that seemed to prioritize profit over quality and value. The gluten free halloumi burger, priced at £13, was shockingly small - and to add insult to injury, it was actually smaller than the £8 halloumi sandwich. This blatant pricing discrepancy was not only confusing but also frustrating.

The large fries, priced at £7, were another example of the restaurant's questionable pricing strategy. The serving size was tiny, and the quality didn't justify the cost.

But the poor value wasn't the only issue. We waited a staggering 55 minutes for our meal to arrive, which was unacceptable.

The restaurant's atmosphere felt tired which didn't help to elevate the experience. While the server was professional and polite, it wasn't enough to make up for the restaurant's many shortcomings.

Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a satisfying dining experience. The combination of small portions, high prices, long wait times, makes it a place to avoid. There are so many more great places close by.

Rating: 2/5 stars The only positive note was the server's professionalism and politeness, but unfortunately, it wasn't enough to redeem the restaurant's many flaws. If you're looking for a good meal without breaking the bank, I'd suggest...
