What a difference a day makes We arrived on a Saturday and immediately booked for breakfast on Sunday am Had a reasonably nice breakfast ! and my daughter and wife as she was really happy with the vegetarian and vegan options The waitress on duty was great Great view and the owner stroke manager appeared with his dog and a smile and said his dog seemed to be the star of the show We laughed We were so pleased with everything we booked breakfast for Monday Tuesday and Wednesday However we arrived and bear in mind the only difference was it was part of the eat out to help out government scheme where the food is 50% cheaper per person up to £10 per person We don't quite know what happened but the service skills deteriorated rapidly We said we booked an outside table for 10 am But we're told abruptly we don't book outside tables no reason why but we're allowed to have one on this occasion We reluctantly went outside The tables weren't clean but when asked the waitress to clean them she said the owner jet washed them occasionally Not a very good response in the current situation I then expressed we would like drinks before breakfast so we could take in the view as we did the day before She said ok but we must pay for the food before we eat We said ok The breakfast then came straight out with no drinks I said I wanted to have the drinks first The server who I presumed with the stern look on her face was the owners wife possibly Said nothing and the brought me out a just warm latte ! We started our breakfasts and she appeared again as if by magic with the card machine and I had to stop eating to pay Very unprofessional I said can you take my drink off as I haven't drank it and didn't want and it as it was only warm and didn't come out when we asked them too She's gave us a blanKklook Took payment and went It started to rain so we took what we had of the breakfast inside and was told by the manager loudly so everybody could hear That's why we don't book outside tables Everybody looked I was fuming but my wife wouldn't let me deal with it so she explained firmly and professionally that's not how you treat customers being ex British airways silver service staff and is very professional All in all very rude abrupt owner Most customers and complaints very unimportant in this current situation On hard evidence not a good advert for the help to eat out scheme Looking at other reviews I can confirm were not the only ones And in a business of this nature with competition around I suggest you spend your hard earned pennies elsewhere There's are better places out there !! Great views ! great Sunday waitress and was professional But on experience this is a sinking ship And the only star of this ship is not the owner like he said it's the smiling dog going...

When the four of us arrived on a rainy afternoon shortly after 5pm the place was empty and we thought they'd be glad of the business. The staff were immediately reluctant to give us a table for drinks because apparently they had dinner bookings. "You can stay for a bit" we were told. We accepted since we only planned to stay for a drink. I browsed the holiday leaflets while my uncle bought a pint and they were shown to a table. I overhead the manager saying loudly and openly in the middle of the restaurant "don't let customers in for drinks they'll be pissing about with hot chocolates and milkshakes for ages". I raised an eyebrow and asked the waiter where the loo was when the manager was done lecturing her. She told me directions then added awkwardly "Are you a customer?" I said I was with my family and pointed to their table, adding I would buy a drink after visiting the loo. When I came out and asked for a drink the bar staff said "your party has left" rather abruptly. My family had just left because a staff member sent by the manager had already come over to hurry them and they felt uncomfortable. Needless to say my uncle left the pint that he had only managed a sip of and refused to pay for it (quite rightly). The manager has an absolutely shocking attitude problem. I've never felt more unwelcome in a place in my life. Just leaves a bad taste in your mouth and so unnecessary! Show your customers some respect. I hope noone shows up because of the rain - they don't deserve any custom. Spend your money elsewhere. So not the spirit during Covid-19 and on a day when we are being subsidised by the taxpayer to visit bars and...
Read moreWishing we had visited earlier in the holiday , and will certainly make it our go to restaurant on future holidays!
Walked past this place so many times over the years without venturing in. But saw a sign for Wood Fired Pizzas at the base of the steps one evening during this holiday and decided to have a look.
Lovely friendly welcome from Sylvia who showed us to a table by the window, overlooking the sea. Excellent service and both our pizzas were delicious. Let me sample the Annings cider before ordering and this became my favourite tipple all holiday. Atmosphere and decor so nice , much nicer than it looked from outside. We booked a table again for another evening ,and were allocated a window table again as we'd requested. Again lovely welcome from Sylvia, thanks for recommending the Pork Schnitzel Sylvia ! Reg (I think, from receipt) also gave excellent service. All staff very attentitive. Deserts also delicious . They also have tables along the veranda outside, and quite a few were using them in the lovely weather. Dog friendly and got us talking to people whilst fussing their dogs. Restaurant and toilets were clean. We stayed for a few drinks after our meal each time , as we were enjoying the atmosphere.
Thanks to Sylvia and staff for excellent food and service. Hope to see you again on future holidays! ...
