I have eaten at Loch & Quay a few times so feel I can write a review. From the time your greeted when walking into Loch & Quay nothing is too much trouble . The staff are always friendly and remember you . The owner who is normally there always takes the time to pop over say hello and find out how you are. When shown to your table which will be perfectly laid up its good to see that if table around you are not taken they are always ready to greet new guests too ( I can't stand tables that have just been left untidy after other customers have left) Drinks always arrive quickly with the current menu and your told in detail of the specials. Great range of food and having an open kitchen you can take a peek into and see the perfect hygiene standards is a tick in my book. On my last visit I had the tempura prawns which was cooked perfectly with a light beer batter. Fillet steak I decided on for main course and it was probably one of the best I have eaten , the Loch & Quay sauce is a real compliment to the steak. The staff are alway attentive but not over the top. Music started which was a guy singing cover songs and playing a guitar the atmosphere was great. Your never rushed to leave your table and we stayed all night and were made to feel welcome to do so. Oh blimey forgot about the dessert Chocolate Brownie with Pistachio crumbs and ice cream just perfect On paying the bill I could not fault one thing and the warm handshake and "hope to see you again soon" is a nice touch for a busy manager. I can definitely recommend Loch & Quay for a great night out with superb food and a happy fun atmosphere. Well done for giving Christchurch a great...
Read moreOverly priced food, staff couldn’t handle the volume of people in a medium sized restaurant, food less than average quality. We had a family vacation last week and as always we eat out most of the time to try the different restaurants in the area we’re staying in. Quite literally it’s just my wife and I and 5 year old autistic son. First off and very importantly there was no social distancing amongst staff or dinners. Staff didn’t wear face coverings neither. Although our waiter was friendly and pleasant, despite asking him if ours sons food could come out first this did not happen, infact his food came out last. We ordered a Margarita pizza for our son which wasn’t any better than buying the frozen kind from Iceland. The pita bread with hummus was like eating leather. I had the Mediterranean Lamb with cascus which was supposed to be a special. The fat was rendered down on the lamb, it was tough and chewy and the cuscus was drier and bland than rice. Disappointing for what seemed to be a very...
Read moreFabulous food and staff Some places have great food, some have great staff, this place has both. We were a holidaying table of 4 including 2x seniors and from the start the staff were lovely, welcoming, helpful and particularly caring with my elderly parents. As to the food, I had their fish curry which I have to say is the best I have ever had. Good size portion with a variety of fish and shellfish in a broth with amazing depths of flavour that transported me to food heaven. I tried to recapture the experience at another popular costal fish restaurant the next night and it just could not compare. My partner had the fish linguini and this was equally delicious, the food quality evidenced by no need to drown the subtle flavours with too much cream (as others sometimes do). This is a place that cares about the quality of their ingredients, and taste combinations. The staff were attentive but discrete, just the right balance. This is what makes eating out a real pleasure, not just an alternative...
