If you are looking for a restaurant that hides itself in a pub... This isn't it. This is, in the best way, a good old traditional oub with great food. So whats the difference? By the time we arrived the pub had been busy all day - so the floor is a little sticky, the bar is a little messy, the staff are running around. But that's part of the atmosphere. The outdoor area is completely covered and has its own bar, allowing smokers and drinkers to enjoy their time without huge food queues awaiting them. The dining area is cozy and quiet, and a little off to the side, nice if you want some time alone. And then there is the bar area, with a stage for live bands and plenty of room to dance! That's a little more lived in. But that's part of the charm. This is a seaside pub with great portions of food, where you come to be loud and enjoy cover band music and have a few beers with many friendly strangers. It would come close to being a dive bar, if the food wasn't as good and it wasn't so family friendly during the day. A great little find in the area for those who don't mind a few rough edges around this little gem of find.

Great pub for a Sunday roast! It's one of the top rated in the area for a Sunday roast, justifiably so. We all had the beef, which was delicious. It comes with an interesting selection of veggies (in Feb), seasonal, I guess. We had mini turnips, white & purple carrots, kale & a swede mash, plus the usual roast pots & Yorkshire. All very good, though. They did forget our roasties at first but swiftly brought when mentioned. Not cheap at about £20 each, but it was good quality. 3 generous slices of beef & plenty of gravy, which is good to see. So many places scrimp on the gravy. It's a real cosy Irish pub & well worth a visit.

Saturday January 28, 2023. Should have been a really nice afternoon pint and bite to eat. Started well with mostly friendly staff, shame the manager appeared more interested in chatting with his mates than serving through our visit, leaving customers waiting. Ordered two wraps from light bite menu. We were given no warning about any serving issues. In the end it took 50 minutes to be served, despite chasing. At least three families with hungry kids experienced similar delays. Staff vaguely apologetic when chased but absolutely no proactive communication from anyone, particularly management and no explanation or compensation for the delays. A real shame, it’s a nice, eclectic space with good choice of drinks and the food, when eventually received, was pleasant but certainly not worth the wait. Surely it’s more work to do this poorly than it would have been to do well

Loved our meal. In particular, I am a small eater and ordered a kids portion. No quizzing or refusal, totally accepted unlike other establishments that say you can only have a child's portion if you are under a certain age. My husband had normal chicken burger and fries. This was a very good size. It was a very tasty meal and glad we discovered this little gem. Especially great if you are a music lover of a certain age as the place took me back to my younger years. A great vibe!

It's been a long time since I have had Fish n Chips. Dave and his staff are absolutely the best. Great food, fine selection of beer and spirits, and an excellent example of an English pub. Will be back for more. Cheers!
