Chicken & Blues - Christchurch — Restaurant in England

Me and my boyfriend went for a date night and as it was his last night visiting me, we decided to try something new, and I’m glad we chose Chicken & Blues. I can’t rave about this place enough! We ordered quarter chicken and half chicken, with sweet potato fries, garlic bread(?) gravy, and honey BBQ sauce. Then we had the brownie cake which was also tasty but wished we had ice cream options. Everything was just amazingly delicious, I don’t usually order chicken from restaurants but this one was absolutely tasty, and everything blended so well! The chefs did amazing with the food. We were looked after by Bruno who was so attentive, not just to us but other customers as well. He went beyond for us, I had a few to drink (as a girl does lol!) and Bruno made sure I had something to eat on my way home so I didn’t get sick, and he kindly gave me a cookie on the house, the sweetest guy! We had a great conversation with him, it’s always nice to get to know the people who are providing service, as I’ve been there before. He was lovely meeting Bruno and the food was amazing! However, I would recommend for the brownie dessert to have some ice cream options, it would elevate the deliciousness the brownie already gives! I used to LOVE chicken and blues it was by far my favourite restaurant in the area, I used it weekly and have done since the OG days in Boscombe high street, moved to Christchurch 3 years ago and was very happy to hear they’ve extended over this way over the last 12 months.

HOWEVER.

How things have changed.

3 times I’ve returned food for being undercooked (not chicken) but not the point, I’ve had missing food in orders. They raised the prices but the service since then has decreased, the staff bar 1 individual (a male who’s always as helpful as possible!) do not care for service and don’t look like they want to be in place, the food standards have 100% decreased. THE FINAL STRAW - I purchased a Too good to go, checked the app prior to leaving my house (IN MUDEFORD 10 minutes away) - no issues I drive down, wait outside until 21:15, go in and open the app “order cancelled” - they cancelled it between leaving the house and my arrival - the woman confused said no they are on here but they are for someone else.. I then said can I buy food then “yes” but you cancelled my order which I waited for.. I’ve been a very repeat customer for I’d say a good 10 years.

NEVER AGAIN WILL...

What can I say.. Utter silence, which is near impossible with my lot. Well there was a great atmospheric bluesy vibe playing in the background and then the grunts, oh ers and lip smacking from our table. Simplistic decor but so well done it really spoke to the homely, family feel to the place, that and Catherine, super host who really made us feel welcome with ideas, fav dishes and a constant smile. The food was “Lish” as my youngest said and my wife announced “c’est les meilleurs wings qu’elle n’ait jamais mangés” roughly translated in layman’s terms “Best wings ever” The wraps were enormous, perfectly griddle lined, filled with fresh salad, slaw and crunchy chicken. Wings, wings and wings just the right amount of heat, sauce, stickiness and crunch. Fries were perfectly cooked and seasoned. If you are in the Bournemouth area, check out Chicken & Blues there might be one nearby, but if you come to Christchurch, make sure you say hi to Catherine, she is the cherry on the top of the cake..
