The guy who served us was absolutely lovely! I feel that the way he spoke to us & delivered the food & service, he should be working in a 5 star restaurant, not there! Unfortunately the decor completely let's the place down. It's so dated & smells pretty bad upstairs. Such a shame as they have a fantastic location & the seaviews from upstairs are beautiful! I do feel with abit of money invested, a freshen up with some paint & new flooring, this place could be something amazing! It's also very quiet in there, even with other customers talking, you do hear every word they are saying & so you feel you have to whisper to have abit of privacy. That being said, it is always busy in here when we've walked by, I think this is due to the low prices & great service. The food wasn't bad & you get alot for your money so I can't give it any lower than a 3 star :) Hope this review doesn't come across...
Read morePopped in here for one of there specials advertised in the window of a teacake and a cuppa tea or coffee for £1.95 due to seating, waiting for ages to be served the waiter had missed us and went to other customers who had just came in through the door 10 minutes later. When the waiter did come over to take our order (Me and a Friend) he had stunk of smoke an he's gummy yellow hands placed a servet down on the table which we both had moved out of our reach and sight.
When the waiter had brought out our mugs of coffee, tea i had to call him back as my teacake was stone cold and was like a rock cake so i ordered a hot one not one that's been left on the side for christ knows how many times getting cold.
Will say we wont be coming hear again and after reading the reviews below i dont know how...
Read moreProbably the best Cafe in Ryde, serving honest British classics. We popped in for a hearty breakfast before our Ferry home and considering we were a group of 7, the service was really quick and spot on. The waiter was friendly and accommodating, who took a real pride in ensuring everything was spot on. The food was piping hot, with very generous portions and cooked to perfection - I can definitely recommend the £9 Long John Big Big Breakfast! Drinks were again plentiful and well priced. Its a shame the upstairs is no longer available for dining, however downstairs is available still. We last visited in 2006 and can honestly say the food is as good today, as it was then. Definitely one to visit while...
