I really don't know how they are getting all these 5stars from, they must be asking guests to give it to them or they must be all fake reviews written by the owner. I have known this place since it opened and every time I come on the island cause I live on Buckingham road I visit Michelangelo restaurant 2 to 3 times cos it's closer and I can get my bottle of Barolo with some cheese and the rest of the family can dine but I always thought the food was below par, tasteless, under cooked and most of the time overcooked. the ingredients used are not freshly made (been a catering general manager for over 20 years). Today, we arrived to the island late and I decided to get a takeaway so I ordered 2 spaghetti bolognese only to find out they use tagliatelle which is fine but at £13 each is like a daylight robbery. The grumpy waitress handed me the bill which says £13 but been honest I pointed out to her that it should be £26. Once I got home we opened the first one and tasted it (yuk) absolutely tasteless. watery , no sauce, 70% carrots/celery and 20% of whatever meat they used. The pasta was extremely under cooked, stuck to my teeth. I decided to chuck one in the garbage where it belong and take the other one and ask if they can change it fo a Pizza. When I spoke to the lady owner, all she had to say is that she is sorry and she will do nothing about it. I gave her back her pasta dish and she can keep the £13 as well cause that all she was about. in my restaurant in London, if my guest is not happy with a dish, I will replace it with whatever dish he or she prefer to have or refund the money and invite them to comeback. Michelangelo restaurant, I will never comeback cos there are far better restaurants in Sandown and Seaview ,......with great food and views, charming waitresses and waiters and great owners who find time to speak to their guests and take constructive criticism than been a stuck up. You are robbing the island people and specially the tourist (you thought I was a tourist ) . For the pasta bolognese: pasta: £0.10 bolognese mix :£1.10 gas/electricity:£0.05 Labour costs :£0.25 Other costs : £0.50 Dish cost :£2 Charging £13 Your restaurant should have been Called...
Read moreI’m not happy to announce that after tonight I will never set foot in this restaurant again. I have come here for years and used to visit before I moved to the Island in 2013. We had a table booked for my wife’s birthday. The waitress was pleasant and we had our drinks and starters. My wife does like the spaghetti Bologne but tonight it was served as tagliatelle. She was given the option to return it and to be honest she should have. However we had all been served our food and why would you want to be eating your main course when everyone else is halfway through theirs or finished? What I will say is she didn’t enjoy it and barely ate any of it. I’m not sure if it was the manager or another waitress who came to collect payment but I politely made the point that it is difficult to change a dish when you are out as a group who have their dishes and what she got was not what it said on the menu. The member of staff seemed only intent in shutting us down repeating that it was a mistake in the kitchen but we should have returned it and there was nothing she can do. I was not looking for a refund but her attitude was appalling. I was told that all pasta is the same which shocked me. I always thought there were different types but does this revelation highlight a global marketing scam where the public has been fooled into buying different types of pasta when it is ‘all the same’? If this is not the case, maybe as well as training her in listening and basic customer service skills you should send her on a world pasta course. Also she told us next time to be brave and send it back. My wife having undergone almost three years of chemotherapy and other traumatic procedures does not need any advice on being brave from a member of your obnoxious staff. But thanks for ruining her birthday...
