Visiting Rude to take part in the Isle of Wright half marathon. Took Wrighline boat from Portsmouth Harbour which only takes 25 minutes. On disembarking at Rude you can either walk along the pier to the seafront or take a short train ride in a 3 carriage train. The train is rather quaint is like a 1950/60's London underground train. When you get to the end of the pier the train goes to other destinations in Rude or you can disembark and there is a bus station outside serving all the destination's in Ryde. Read moreReally incompetent service by ticket operator (Lee). After about 10 minutes of struggling and phoning a colleague he was still unable to process a refund on tickets. This was due to purchasing the tickets from the machine while the trains are not running. When asking why there is no sign on the machine he explained that they can not put any non company issued documentation on the machine. One would think that trains not being in operation from from the station would verify the need for a sign preventing passengers from making the same error or that employees would receive additional training to assist travels.
